In most cases the LDS sent teams to the local parishes and / or the GRO and photographed the registers, books and related items. There are gaps in their work as shown in the LDS listing of what films are available. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~hiflyte/iredata/refdata/lds_film_numbers/lds_index.html All the Indexes were photographed but there are gaps in what actual registers were done. You can order the film of the registers into your local FHC. This method is great in that you can now scan the year for other related B, M, or Ds and save the cost of ordering copies via the GRO in Ireland. If you are ordering via the GRO remember to order a "photo COPY" and not a certified copy which cost much more. You do not need cert copies for genealogy records. You can then scan the films and make copies via the equipment in-house (if they have the machines) or take a camera along and take pictures of each item that interests you. (check with the local staff to see if they allow this procedure).
