Can anyone on the list recognize the Donegal place-name from this New South Wales, Australia, Immigration Deposit Journal, 1853-1900, certificate #5018 deposit paid from James Gallacher for a Mary Sweeney, 19, Servant: http://search.ancestry.com/Browse/view.aspx?dbid=2000&path=Deposit+Journal.1880.57&sid=&gskw=Mary+Sweeney I can't understand the place-name spelling. Does anyone recognize this place and if so where is it. Thanks for your help cheers marilyn

    3. Hi Marilyn There were Gallagher and Sweeney families in Carrowcannon in the 1857 Griffith Valuation. Carrowcannon is a townland near Falcarragh in Donegal. My McKinley family lived next door on Ballyconnell townland where the landlord was Wybrants Olphert and later his son John. In 1906 one of my McKinley line married into the McClintock family who lived at Carrowcannon. I suggest you check out the full Griffiths transcript for further details and also look at the cancellation books for the townland. CARROWCANON (Ord.
