    3. Boyd, Sorry my question was not related to Ireland. When the LDS Site was mentioned I thought someone may know how to find out where the information came from. Send us the original copied and pasted and we may be able to help you. Unless it is the old IGI, it is really only going to be either a church record or a Civil Record and if it is before 1864, it is the former. If it is after 1864 and the mother's maiden name is given, it is likely to be the latter. Or send the details - name, DoB and townland, and I will check for myself and let you know. My wife and I converted to Latter Day Saints, last Easter, and I have been involved with the Family History Centers as part of my own personal calling. The resources are quite impressive and you do not have to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints to access the information. The Family History Centers welcome all people and have consultants to help you every step along the way. If you have not used Familysearch, try it. 3. Hello John. Here is a different thought for you. But first I should say that I am these days NOT very familiar with www.familysearch.org anymore. However, in the past when I used to search in there in the IGI records, there were two types of records found therein: ONE type comprised those which had been TRANSCRIBED from parish registers. They had a CODE (I think that was the terminology used, but I may be wrong on that) which started with M for Marriages, probably a C for Christenings, and possibly a B for Burials. The OTHER type comprised records which had been submitted by LDS members from their own research -- some of it inaccurate, repettitve, etc. I always give/gave the lowest level of credence to the member-submitted entries -- but there could be some value in them. In contrast I give the highest level of credence to the transcribed church registers. Accordingly, IF your record was taken from the IGI in the past, it might be that this distinction might help you. Hope so. ray in oz ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Gibb" <johnmgibb@blueyonder.co.uk> > Boyd, > Sorry my question was not related to Ireland.
