Hello Donegaleire listers. I am very excited, because a kind gentleman in Canada has just published a collection of private family letters sent to his ancestress in Canada, by her parents in Ireland, and siblings and their families in Liverpool, England; Ireland; Canada, the USA, and Australia; as well as half-siblings and their families in Belfast and in Australia; and her own children. This has enabled me to tie up a whole lot of loose ends between a lot of MOORHEADs here in Australia; as well as back in Ireland. To me it is a wonderful treasure-trove. In Ireland, this MOORHEAD family was in counties Donegal, Tyrone, Londonderry, and in Belfast. In Donegal, I already had my own James MOORHEAD family located in the 1840s and early 1850s in the townland of Magherashanvally, near Castlefin; attending the nearby, still in county Donegal, Donaghmore/Donoughmore parish Presbyterian Church. The very kind Minister at that church when I visited there several decades ago, also showed me register entries for the baptisms of children to a Thomas MOORHEAD of Shanvally, who had married a Martha BRIGGS of county Tyrone. The letters gave this Thomas MOORHEAD's connection as a brother to my James MOORHEAD. The same church registers also showed a marriage in 1858 of a Jane MOORHEAD of Shanvally townland, Castlefin to a John ARTHUR, widower; who I knew from other research results had lived in Dergalt townland, Camus parish, Co. Tyrone; and elsewhere as well, including Donegal. These now-published letters again proved that Jane was indeed a sister to my James MOORHEAD and to the above Thomas MOORHEAD. Similarly, the letters prove many other connections between the above siblings and other siblings; and all of the children of each of them. Oh what wonderful revelations were found there! The recipient of the letters was Martha MOORHEAD who married in Canada to William ELLIS ( a nephew of her father's first wife, via her sister.) Martha's father was John MOORHEAD who married firstly Mary ARMSTRONG, and after her decease he married Mary STEWART -- both from Dergalt townland in Camus parish, Tyrone. Mary STEWART was Martha's mother. Anyone interested can obtain the publication in either hardcopy or electronic format. If you use your search engine with the following search phrases: "Blake Maher" "The Moorhead Letters" you should obtain results at Amazon and at Lulu. I have provided the Lulu link below for both copy types; but I do note that in order to buy it there, one needs to Register with Lulu. http://www.lulu.com/product/paperback/the-moorhead-letters/17144927 Please note that lower down on the right-hand side when that web-page opens, there is an option to buy an electronic or e-book version, which is what I have; where it is wonderful to be able to search electronically for any keyword surname, placename, or other word. Hoping that at some time, other distant cousins might find this reference; and also be enriched by its wonderful contents. Regards: Ray in Oz
