Tievebrack and Pulnareanny are townlands, not villages, the nearest villages are Ballintra and Laghy. Margaret
Margaret - your knowledge of the relationships between Townlands and Villages or even large Farms is much needed by me. I use these terms loosely as I am not sure how to use them, not knowing their size or relationships to boundaries for Unions and Registration districts. I have always seen Tievebrack spelled this way [except once where it was Treve...instead of Tieve... I attribute this to inability to read handwriting]. Polnaranny has been seen many different ways in my huntings, I have no clue how to pronounce either. Ballintra seems straightforward to figure out. Is Pulnareanny the current spelling, or was it always the preferred and Polnaranny or other variations simply mis-readings of handwriting also ? Glad to unravel these subtle mysteries....Meg G On Tue, 16 Dec 2003 18:59:02 +0000, original message : >Tievebrack and Pulnareanny are townlands, not villages, the nearest >villages are Ballintra and Laghy. >Margaret > > >==== DONEGALEIRE Mailing List ==== >Donegaleire listowner is Carol Queen. >Visit my homepages at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegaleire/ >QUEENSCASTLE BRANCHES AND BOUGHS > >============================== >To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: >http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
