It's been awhile since I posted my names: James HAMILTON, a revenue boatman, married Mary (Jane) WILSON in Killybegs, Co. Donegal on March 25, 1813. Their son, James Ezekiel HAMILTON, was born February 20, 1816 in Killybegs. Other children were John (a sea captain, born 1835 in Co. Down), Alexander (Sandy)(also a mariner), Thomas, Elizabeth, and Anne. Except for James Ezekiel, there is no record of their births in the Killybegs Church. John, Elizabeth, and Alexander were living in Liverpool in 1859, as were three of their aunts, Matilda, Betty, and Susannah. Because of the strong Liverpool connection I suspect that the revenue boatman James HAMILTON may have been born in England, not in Killybegs. James Ezekiel HAMILTON emigrated to Crawford Co. in western Pennsylvania in 1838 to help his widowed aunt, Mariah COOK, care for her farm.
