I have found ancestors on the 1851 Glasgow census ; as follows: Nancy Elliot H W 46 Donegal Margaret Elliot D U 22 " Stephen Elliot S U 18 " Jane Elliot D U 16 " James Elliot S U 14 Glasgow Robert Elliot S U 10 " Joseph Stopford Elliot S U 3 " Nancy, was known on later censuses as Ann Elliott (two tees). She lived to 92. Her husband was James Elliot(t) , deceased by 1851 Her parents were Robert Clark and Margaret , M.S. also Clark ,apparantly She was born 1804-1805 Can anyone tell me where I could search for Nancy/Ann's birth, her marriage to James; and the first three children's births, which were years 1829, 1833, 1835 ? Based on later generations, the family was probably Protestant. Son James above, likely was a member of the 78th Regiment of the Seaforth Highlanders in 1854. Note the unusual second name of the last child, Joseph Stopford Elliot(t) ; my great-grandfather. Other Irish names connected to this family are Neil, St. John, and Darroch. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Bob Elliott.
