    1. [DONEGALEIRE] MY BEATTIE and McNAUGHERS AND VARIOUS OTHERS
    2. Maggie & Adrian
    3. My grandmother was Mary Elizabeth BEATTIE. She came to New Zealand at the end of WW1 and before 1923. Her father and mother were John BEATTIE, Farmer of Drumhaggart, Parish of Burt and Cassie (Catherine) McNAUGHER daughter of Joseph McNAUGHER and Margaret ANDERSON. John's father was to the best of my knowledge also John BEATTIE. Cassie and John were reputed to have 11 or 13 children, my grandmother being the only girl. Here are some others I have come across in the Census. The children were orphaned before 1901. 1901 Census - Drumhaggart Joseph BEATTIE born 1887 aged 14 was living in nearby Muff Parish with a MOODY family. William John BEATTY born 1888 living with James McNAUGHER, Widower, his great Uncle. James wife was Margaret WILEY. I have a few more details about her, if anyone wants them. William was described as a Farm Servant aged 12. Also living with James was James BEATTIE Orphan aged 7. Andrew BEATTY born 1891 was lving with George HUNTER aged 67, Farmer and Jane his wife aged 63. Mary Elizabeth BEATTY born 1895 (my grandmother) was living with George DONAGHY 28 and Margaret DONAGHY his wife and their daughter Evaline DONAGHY aged 6. George and Margaret were born in Co. Tyrone. When the Ulster Covenant was signed in 1912, the DONAGHY's were living in Londonderry and Mary Elizabeth seems to have been with her brother William John BEATTY also in Londonderry. All the above children were living in properties near or the same as were occupied by Wiley's and McNaughers in the 1857 Griffiths Valuation. All were Presbyterian. Cassie's father was listed as Joseph McNAUGHER, Retired Farmer, Widower aged 66, living with William DINSMORE aged 36, Farmer, Widower and William's two sons James aged 8 and Joseph aged 5. I presume William's wife was Eliza Ann McNAUGHER, Cassie's sister born 1869 died 1898 aged 30. Cassie also had a brother Thomas born 1865 who was a witness at her marriage to John BEATTIE. If anyone has any info. on ANY of the above names, I would be extremely grateful. You can go on to my web pages. There are some WILEY people from that area who are searching for their lines. It may be of help. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.co.nz/~maggiesirishkin/ Cheers, MAGGIE
