Hi there all Just wanted to see if anyone was researching this family and perhaps SKS could help me on my way and send me in the right direction for anywhere new to start searching I am searching for my GG Grandparents James & Cecilia Kerr in Co.Donegal. Here's what I have to date. James Kerr born approx 1782-1793 in Ireland Father: John Kerr. Mother: Isabella McBrairty Married to Cecilia McLaughlin/McLachlan/McGlachoran. Died before 1861. James Died: 17th May 1870 At: 104 King Street, Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland Children born to this couple that are known are: John Kerr born approx 1811 in Ireland Mary Kerr born approx 1825 in Ireland Susan Kerr born approx 1828-1836 in Ireland. Married James McNeil on the 25th January 1864 in Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Bridget Kerr born approx 1834-35 in Killaghtee, Co.Donegal, Ireland. Married: James Haughey on the 10th June 1854 in Gorbals, Glasgow, Scotland. They had 11 children all born in Glasgow and immigrated to New Zealand on the 6th February 1874 with 5 of the 11. Frances Kerr born approx 1839-1845 in Co.Donegal, Ireland. Married: William Samuel Parlett on the 12th September 1865 in Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They had 5 children and 4 died as babies. They Immigrated to New Zealand in around 1874/75 Ann Kerr born approx 1841-44 in Co. Donegal, Ireland. Married Jeremiah McCart(e)y on the 22nd July 1867 in Hutchesontown, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland. They had 4 children in Glasgow and immigrated to New Zealand on the 4th June 1874. I have found the siblings of James & Cecilia on the 1851 Census and living with John as the Head of the household. No sign of James and Cecilia though. 1851 Census: Lanarkshire - A Glasgow, Gorbals. Z/719/1/Dale Street /37/51/61 - (37 Dale Street) John Kerr, Head, Unmarried, Aged 40, Occupation: Dock Labourer, Born: Ireland. Bridget Kerr, Sister, Unmarried, Aged 20, Occupation: Cotton Factory Worker, Born: Ireland. Susan Kerr, Sister, Unmarried, Aged 23, Occupation: Cotton Factory Worker, Born: Ireland. Mary Kerr, Sister, Unmarried, Aged 26, Occupation: General Servant, Born: Ireland. Fanny Kerr, Sister, Unmarried, Aged 17, Occupation: Woolen Factory Worker. Born: Ireland. Ann Kerr, Sister, Unmarried, Aged 12, Scholar, Born: Ireland George Rooney, Nephew, Unmarried, Aged 1, Scholar at Home, Born: Glasgow, Lanarkshire I then found James Kerr with his other daughters in the 1861 Census. 1861 Census: Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanarkshire Parish: 644/9 - 104 King Street, Tradeston, Lanarkshire, Scotland. Enumerator: 44. Page: 14. Line: 17. ID# 395944 - 395947 James Kerr, Aged 68, Widower, Born: Ireland. Susan Kerr, Aged 29,Occupation: Factory Weaver. Born:Ireland Fanny Kerr, Aged 22,Occupation: Factory Weaver. Born: Ireland Ann Kerr, Aged: 20, Occupation: Factory Weaver. Born: Ireland. Bridget had married to James before this though so was listed under Haughey. Well if anyone can help me out here on where to go next I certainly would appreciate any lil tidbits.
