The area around the eastern end (Leitrim) of the picturesque lough is identified as "Glencar (Gleann an Chairthe)" on the Disc. map 16. This area is mostly centered in the townlands of Sranea and Sracreeghan. I'd put this sparsely-populated area at about 6 miles NE of Sligo town.
