    2. Judith, If you're not sure of the county for a particular surname, it can be worth checking it out on the Irish Times website where they have some statistics based on the 1850's Griffiths Valuation by County. It does quite a good job of allowing for spelling variations. Take a look: http://www.ireland.com/ancestor/ Having had a brief peek, I think you were right first time: you're probably looking in Donegal, maybe in neighbouring Tyrone. And you should also look for CROSSAN and McCROSSAN. Next, check out Griffiths for the surnames Crosson, Crossan etc. Griffiths was recorded by townland. A good start would be websites by two of our list members. Lindel's genealogy resources is the most complete Donegal site on the web: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/ Bob's website has generously transcribed Griffiths records: (Bottom of page choose Research Data, then Ireland data, then Griffith Valuation Donegal). I just checked and Bob has a super collection of Crossan, Crossen etc. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hiflyte/ Hope that helps. Big problem with the many spellings of Crosson. They were alive in 1914. I believe that they were from Donegal because all the ancestors were but I am not sure. If not Donegal, then definitely Northern Ireland. > Daniel was a farmer. Their daughter, Helen, emigrated from Ireland and went to Philadelphia in the late 1880's or 1890's. > Thanks. > Judy > > >--------------------------------- >Do you Yahoo!? >Yahoo!
