Hello Listers, Can anyone tell me where TARRHALLOAN, Co Donegal is? It is listed as the place the next of kin lives on an Ellis Island record of Toal GALLAGHER, my relative. Also, his wife's obituary lists her birthplace as TERMON-GORTHALARAGH, Co. Donegal. Her first name was Anna, but I don't know her last name. They immigrated to the USA as a family, with 4 children. Thank you, Tamy
Hi Tamy! Those townlands are both in the parish of Kilmacrenan - Tirkillin (there was a Toal Gallagher as head of his household there in 1857) and Gortnalaragh (Brearty, Friel, Gallagher, Hilferty, Kennedy and McLaughlin housegolds in 1857). They're about a mile apart, with Gortnalaragh just south of Termon - both are within about 3 miles west of Kilmacrenan.
