I recently received a report on my grandfather who was born in Donegal. In the parish records (Inver) it gives his name, date of birth, (GAGRIM), father Thomas Mohan, and mother, Sarah McCunningham, of Cranny Lower. The last name should be Meehan, but then most of the records are fairly illegible, with things crossed out, and just generally messy. Does any one know what in heaven's name is GAGRIM? Is this Gaelic? With three "Latinists" in the family (two of whom are almost too old to remember our names much less Latin) we don't think it is a Latin derivative. Can anyone help?
