Came across an interesting Street Atlas while out on the annual pre Christmas bag-carrying junket with 'She who must be obeyed'. It is part of a four volume series, covering the six cross-border counties. The maps are taken from the Ordnance Survey and the atlas is produced by Philip's, priced £5.99. Details are said to be on www.philips-maps.co.uk Although I had no particular interest in the area, I was so impressed that I have purchased the book that covers Co. Tyrone and Co. Fermanagh. While it is referred to as a street atlas, it covers the rural areas in great detail. All minor roads and other features such as rivers, lakes, forests etc. are included but best of all, the townlands are clearly listed. Scales are one and one third inches to the mile and two and two thirds inches to the mile so it does not show townland boundaries. I cannot be certain if it covers every townland but there seems to be an impressive list and there is an extensive index at the back. Definitely worth the price for anyone researching those areas and wanting to locate townlands. It also lists the postal code for each area.
