Prior to 1857 many children in these areas attended Erasmus Smith Schools and pay schools In my search have discovered that schools associated with the Erasmus Smith Trust were established in Donegal at the following locations: Bunbeg Buncrana Bundoran Burtonport Carrickfin Fahan Glencolumbkille Inver Lifford Mount Charles Stranorlar Tubberkeen Will do some more digging on subject. In 1857 the Marquis granted a site for a new school at Glencoagh and for the 100 years most kids in this area attended the school. It is now a private home or such.
