I don't know. The information came from a cemetery transcription which reads: "MOORE = Robert T. Moore, formerly of Letterleamy, Ire. d. 9 May 1857 ae 75 yrs, h/w Catherine Osborne d. 18 Apr 1859 ae 69 yrs." I believe their son Joseph Lyttle Moore was b. 1826 somewhere in Co. Donegal. There is also, Lettermakenny, in Stranolar Parish, Barony of Raphoe. I could see where that might sound like Letterleamy as there is that "stop" or break in the name. Letterkenny comes out in one smooth word, but when I say Letterleamy I have to make a "stop" between the Letter and the leamy. I am sure one of our Donegal folks will have a better idea...LOL. I, like Carol think it is Lettermakenny, but to be sure I have asked a good friend from stranorlar to see what he thinks. Betty ann, do you know where the cemetery inscription came from. It's most likely Letterkenny. Transcribers unfamiliar with Donegal could easily read a "k" as an "le" and the "amy" could easily be "enny". If in doubt, always go for the obvious, as my gen mentor once told me.
