Margo Margo, do you have any Friel or Keegan's in your family? Janice **************Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars. Janice, I have Keegan's and Dougherty's but not until the US. I had never considered Keegan's from Donegal! Jane Dougherty [1816-1857] married Owen Francis Martin [1808-1891] in 1836 in Donegal. Christopher T. Keegan [1886-1954] married Mary Jane Martin [1891-1933] in Newark, Essex, New Jersey. Mary Jane was the great-granddaughter of Owen and Jane. I believe the immigrant ancestor of my Keegan line was Peter Keegan, d 1906 Sayreville, Middlesex, NJ, married to Anna Webb, but I have not yet documented it, other than a death certificate for their son Christopher J. Keegan [so many Christopher's, Thomas', and Peter's you need a program!!] If you have Keegan's from Sayreville - we're probably related!! My great-grandmother died in a state hospital in 1911, and there is a disconnect between my line and the cousins. Hi Margo, Your names are reflected in my family but then I can't trace the Dougherty family in Pennsylvania. My Great Grandfather Patrick Doherty of Ballyhillion, Malin Head, County Donegal went to Braddock, PA , built a home and then the Civil War broke out. He fought in the Civil War and then returned to IReland. I always thought he had borthers and sisters who settled in Braddock and that was why he went there. My Great Uncle went to Braddock and brought my Grandmother Catherine Doherty (1870) to Braddock and they eventually moved to Anaconda, Montana. Great Uncle Pat also brought over his other sisters and two of them returned to Ballyhillion. My Great Aunt Ellen Doherty McLaughlin's (1872) godparents werer Manassy McGonigle and Elizabeth Callaghan. I had a Great Uncle William Doherty but he lived in Belfast and then England. I realize that there are 10s of thousands Dohertys/Dougherty and variations and many have Ellen, William and probably a McGonigle connection but I thought I would mention it.
