This was a strange entry stumbled across while looking through a microfilm of 1856 Marriages for Donegal. Volume 4, page 583, line entry #70.... May 29, 1856. John LOWSEN [Lowesen? Lowrsen?], 22y, Native of Norway, Bachelor, Seaman residing Killymard. Son of John LOWSEN, Seaman. Wed to Lavinia MOORHEAD, 21y, Spinster residing parish of Killymard. Daughter of John MOORHEAD, Farmer. Married in the Parish Church of Killymard by License. Witnesses were Samuel THOMPSON and Andrew MOORHEAD. I'm thinking this surname might actually be LARSEN. LOWSEN is spelled 2 different ways on this entry. John LOWSEN is written in the body of the Registration and John LOWESEN or LOWRSEN is written at the bottom of the entry near where the Witnesses's names are entered . Since the groom likely had a Norwegian accent now flavored with Irish, no telling what the Registrar heard for the surname. Anyone have something on this family ? This couple is not [yet] related to me. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
