    2. How to confuse the average researcher and make your work much harder. Spot the non deliberate mistakes in this page from the Find a Grave website: http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=cr&CRid=2413355&CScn=taughboyn e& This is terrible!! For those who do not know the area, this is NOT Taughboyne Presbyterian Church. It is Taughboyne Parish Church and as such is a Church of Ireland Church, NOT a Presbyterian church at all. And second, the map suggests a location south of Omagh which puts it in Tyrone, not Donegal at all! 3. Think the Dunmore they refer to should be the one in Carrigans also Boyd, and as far as I am aware there is a vault for the McClintock family of Dunmore in Killea Parish Church (Carrigans church of Ireland) although some of the family may well be buried in Taughboyne, you probably know more than I do. And yes Taughboyne Parish Church was never a Presbyterian church although there are Presbyterians buried there, some Catholics and possibly other religions also. There is a wonderful site for St. Johnston and Carrigans which is well worth a visit for anyone that may have connections to the area. They have some info on the various churches amongst other things and for those interested here is a direct link to the page about the various Churches http://www.stjohnstonandcarrigans.com/churcheshistory.html Bernie. -----Original Message----- From: donegaleire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:donegaleire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of boydgray26@utvinternet.com Sent: 08 December 2011 14:17 To: DONEGALEIRE@rootsweb.com Subject: [DONEGALEIRE] Spot the mistakes How to confuse the average researcher and make your work much harder. 2. Hi Bernie, I cannot pass up the opportunity of spreading the word about the Reverend William Boyd - yet again. The Rev William Boyd was the minister of nearby Monreagh Presbyterian Church from 1725 to 1771. However, because of the laws of the time, everyone had to be buried in a Church of Ireland Church (that persecution I was mentioning) and so this man is actually buried not in his own church where he ministered for 46 years but in the rival Taughboyne Parish Church (flat gravestone by back entry). This man is very important because it was he who led the first major emigration of Presbyterians from Ireland to America in 1718, and thus began the mass migration which has created such a bond between Ulster and America, This is celebrated at the Monreagh Heritage Centre, his old manse. I should also add that The Rev Boyd came from Macosquin, beside the River Bann in County Derry.... Which just happens to be the parish where my great great grandmother, Mary Boyd (1810-85) was born, lived and died. So, I am claiming the good Rev as my direct ancestor! Who could prove me wrong?!! Grins.
