Hello Janice. In my experience here in oz, your interpretation is usually correct. That is: one would expect them to be UNmarried as at the date of the Will. I have found several Wills over here where some daughters were married, and in each case they were referred to by their married surname, frequently mentioning their husband's forename as well.
