    1. [DONEGALEIRE] Brachey
    2. Thank you Lindel for your response about Pattons in Breaghy in 1857. Sorry about the badly typed question! Does anyone know of Brachey? My own William Patton lived at Croaghan House near Tamney in Fanad, so I suppose it is unlikely to be the place Brachey or Breaghy as I believe the latter is in the Letterkenny area. Does anyone know of the Patton family at Croaghan? Alex

    1. [DONEGALEIRE] [DONEGALEIRE-Parish & Townland Maps
    2. Ellen Langan
    3. Janice, it is very kind of you to offer these maps. I am very interested in them. All I have is a travel book map and it doesn't really give much in the way of details. It would be nice to look at places where my ancestors may have walked. I know for sure that my Martin family were in Donegal Town (Census 1901 Main St), but I'm not too sure about my Boyle, Rowe, McCarron, O'Hara and Kelly families. However, I presume they were not too far away (Boyle - Rowe) (Martin - Boyle) - (O'Hara - McCarron) (Martin -McCarron) - (Kelly - Martin). Boyles went to Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Boston and Buffalo. Some Martins, McCarrons and O'Haras went to Glasgow, Scotland and connected there. The Martins ended up on Argyle Street, Glasgow. Tough times, too. I remember my mother telling me that they wore their best clothes to Church on Sunday and on Monday the clothes went to the Pawnshop. (always redeemed on Saturday) I was born a Kelly, raised in Glasgow, and married a Langan (Roots - S! ligo) had two daughters, came to Canada where my son was born. The next generation are all Canucks! I don't really know much about the Kellys but rumour has it there was a King of the Gypsies in the line : ) Some Martins went to Grimsby, Ont and then on to Buffalo where they became Melbrod :) And that is another story! Take care, Ellen

    3. Muriel I had some photocopies done of militia lists I found in PRONI. Needless to say I cannot lay my hands on them but a search of the archives for this list shows i did send them to the list last year. Just as well that works better than my filing system! They are much earlier than you wanted - about a 100 years earlier - but I reproduce them in case they are of help.
