Hi Melanie Yes, I have personally found where individuals were noted by one first (given??) name in the earlier census or document(s), then in later censuses and/or documents they would appear to go by another name (possibly middle name) or combination of names, or more unfortunately, by a nick name. Thankfully, this practice was more prevalent in one particular lineage than in others, but has necessitated a great deal of additional comparisons of age, parents, siblings, spouses, geographic locators, and other documentation to verify that they were most likely the same person(s) as the first. I would also suggest that Nancy Ann may not have been an uncommon name combination as I have two Nancy Anns and one Ann Nancy in my own lineages. Good Luck in your search :-) Betty Ann

Hello, I just got the birth record for Catharine McGinty born 14th July 1868, father Denis McGinty of Corvin Parish of Donegal, mother Bridget McGinty, former surname Curriskin, date of Registration 28th July 1868. Births Registered in the District of Donegal in the Superintendent Registrar's District of Donegal in the County of Donegal. Catherine left Ireland soemtime around 1890, I have no other information on this family other than a picture dated 1920's for a Cummings family. I can't find a Corvin, but there is a Corveen, would they be one and the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Cheryl
Searching for information on Joseph P. Edwards, born @ 1795, parents & location in Ireland unknown. I know this is a tall order but hoping. Kathleen
Hello, I have just found out the names of the parents of my ancestors, William HANNAH and Eliza RITCHIE. They were William and Mary Ann HANNAH and Andrew and Isabella RITCHIE. I believe that both couples were born in Scotland, possibly in Glasgow. But, their children, William HANNAH and Eliza RITCHIE, were born in Donegal, Ireland. William was born on Dec. 25, 1828, and Eliza was born on June 21, 1837. William and Eliza must have returned to Glasgow at some point as they married there in either Dec. 1854 or Jan. 1855. I do not know whether their parents returned to Glasgow, or, if they did, when. Is anyone researching the above families? And, is there any possibility that the HANNAH and RITCHIE families were somehow related? (I'd also like to find out the maiden names of the wives.) Thank you for your time. I've done it again.......a request has gotten separated from the reply data ! Hate it when that happens.....Surname was TRUESDALE and possiblly also McGAW or McGEE as its in the same stack of 3 documents. They are for 1856 and 1857 Marriages in Ireland. If you've requested data on Irish TRUESDALEs in the past few weeks, this is probably for you, I even searched the Outbox of my mail software for these surnames and didn't get a hit. You know....I tend to sleep very soundly these days......perhaps I've lost a bit that didn't wake up with me ???? Sending this same message to 3 Mailing Lists I'm usually doing lookups with so I apologize if you perhaps get this in duplicate. MegG / Oklahoma USA

Hi all, I am planning to go to Southwestern Donegal in 2005 and want to stay at a town that I can use as a home base that I can travel to and fro from. Preferably as close to Corr(Cor) in Lettermacaward on the Geeebarra Bay as possible. I'm not asking for an exact dwelling that might not be ethical for this site's purpose but looking at maps I am at a lost. Glenties or Dungloe seem feasible but is there a town closer that has accomodations? Just a reminder this time last year I posed a question about my then unknown grandmother's birthplace in Donegal.
