Tamy, I am specifically looking for Cannon or McFadden. Both Barneys that I mentioned are Cannons. TO: Marilee in Washington State Regarding Kilcar and Carrick (Barney and Barney Og), what surname(s) are you researching? I have done extensive research in Carrick and a little in Kilcar, as my husband's grandparents were both from Carrick. I even have a few Barneys in our family tree :) Tamy in Reno Nevada
I've never gone to that site, but I'd like to send my prayers and good wishes to Bridget. On another message board, there's a custom called "sending the BLUE", which started in a rather silly way, but it means sending good thoughts, prayers, sympathy if needed, to whoever needs them. So consider this my basket full of BLUE in very large amounts for Bridget. Margo in California
I'm sending this to both the board and Lindel herself. I can't believe it's so long since I first found both, and I remember seeing the first postings on Lindel's website (I think I was the first to write in her guest book......or one of the first, anyway!).....and those pictures of her Liam, with whom I promptly fell in love! Thank you, Lindel, for telling us how things are going, and giving me, for one, a real glimpse into your very bad month........I apparently missed the original postings about your illness. I hope you feel better every day, and gain strength for the upcoming surgery. We really need you among us, for your shining spirit as well as the help you so willingly give everyone. The good you've done for so many must come round to you again, I'm sure. Margo in California
Hi Lindel, Glad you are home. My gosh, has it been that long since we got to see your wedding pictures, and pictures of Liam? Seems like just yesterday. Anyway, glad you are on the mend and at home. Jerrian
For those of you who know Bridget her husband is keeping an update on her at their website http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com I'm sure many of you have noticed we have not been keeping up with the daily updates. Bridget is the soul of this site; she writes most of the content and selects and edits the rest. Just last Tuesday the fifteenth, the day after her birthday, Bridget was admitted into the hospital intensive care unit with Congestive heart failure. She is still there, holding her own, but progress has been slow and unpredictable. She is on almost complete life support and I am terrified and not handling things very well. I'm sorry but I can't find the strength to do the maintenance without her. I also spend most of my time at the hospital. I will post her status here again in the next few days. She, and I, could use all the prayers you can send our way. Thank you, Russ Haggerty
Hey Lindel! Great to hear from you! Glad you are home. Thank you for letting us know about Bridget. I will keep her in my prayers and thoughts. Beannachtai, Margaret (Mairead)
Lindel a chara dhil, it was wonderful to open my email this morning to see your email to the list!!! You have certainly been through a horrific ordeal. Welcome back! Beannachtai, Margaret (Mairead)
It's nice to see your smiling face back on my screen. Don't overdo things - we all need you. May our God hold you forever in the Palm of His Hands. Love Ellen
I want to thank those on this list who have been such a great help. I have found a cousin in Ireland and am so excited. I have been corresponding with her over e-mail and she seems excited too. Thanks to anyone who has helped me with this. I appreciate it very much. Marilee in Washington State

Hi Is anyone researching McKeown and Quinn from Mondoey Manorcunningham ? My wifes ancestors Jane McKeown and Hugh Quinn were married there in the late 1800s. I don't have too much information on them at the present time. Thanks Frank McGonigal Ont.Canada
My sister found some entries from my dad's journal about 2 visits that he made to Kilcar and Carrick in 1948. He mentions visiting old Barney and Barney Og. My question is...... Does Og mean Junior? If not then what? Marilee in Washington State
This message received from Jerry Lou says it all, thank you. Bill Hello All, I talked with her Wed night and she sounded great! Very chatty as usual and we even got a little genealogy into the conversation! She can't wait to get back home but is dreading coming back in 3 weeks to replace the pacemaker. She said she was so sick she didn't even realize how long she had been there or what day it was until this week. It was good to hear her laugh and sound almost normal again. Kind Regards, Jerry Lou
Have added 228 names (N to Z) to the Births on the Odds and Ends page of my site. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hiflyte/index.htm May be of interest to some, take look you may find the lost family member. Bob Cdn
Kathy at ktzndgs@cox.net writes: << Can anyone tell me how far it would be from Glennagiveny to Moville proper? >> Kathy, Glennagiveny is a large townland and, depending on just where someone lived within it, the distance to Moville town could be between 3 and 5 1/2 miles. If you go to: >> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bhilchey <<, you can scroll-down to the fine color-coded map of Co. Donegal and click on Moville Lower parish. This will show you the location and extent of Glennagiveny civil parish. The town of Moville (no such townland) is located at the point on the bottom of the map, and is nestled along the coastline between the Upper and Lower Moville parishes. << I know there's a Roman Catholic church in Ballybrack and was wondering if that's the one the folks of Glennagiveny would have been likely to use. >> I think that's likely - even though the church is down south, close to the coast. There is/was an RC church to the west (it was discussed on this list - or the other Donegal list - within the last few weeks) in Carrowblagh or Leckemy, but there were no convenient connecting roads/paths to Glennagiveny townland. There is a current church in the southern part of Carrowtrasna townland, but it does not appear on maps of the 1800's and is probably of recent construction. I'm sorry to hear Lindel is in hospital! I just got back from caravanning in France and re-joined the list. I met her on the internet researching my Donegal Donaldsons. She was so helpful to me. Then last year we toured S Island New Zealand and she wrote me great emails. My prayers and best wishes, Lindel. Heather Hunter in Edinburgh http://www.mccaskie.org.uk/Donaldsons.htm
Still more good thoughts and prayers to Lindel from the USA! Does anyone know when she'll be going home to her family? I recently found my ancestor John McDermott of Glennagiveny listed in the Griffith's Valuation of 1857 on Ben Palmer's site. Can anyone tell me how far it would be from Glennagiveny to Moville proper? I know there's a Roman Catholic church in Ballybrack and was wondering if that's the one the folks of Glennagiveny would have been likely to use. Also, given that the name McDermott is rather common I'm wondering the likelyhood of the various McDermott's of Glennagiveny being related. Were they probably all unrelated? Would anyone possibly have a Griffith's Valuation map of that area or know how I can get one? Thanks! Kathy
