I don't know where in Donegal my family is from but if you could take a few minutes and look for the following, I would be very very grateful: Ann/Nancy Clark, born 1804-1805 , daughter of Robert Clark and Margaret Clark, Margaret's surname seems to be Clark also. Ann/Nancy married James Elliot(t). Children born Donegal, Margaret 1829, Stephen 1833, Jane 1835 Thank you again. This is a very kind offer Jane - I will get back to you about my Donaldsons, Knoxes, McCreas Heather
I will be in Pettigo & Ballintra for a week in August. If any of you are researching someone with a connection to the Church of Ireland in Pettigo or in Ballintra/Ballydermot, I will try to look them up. Send me your names not later than August 1 and I will try to get back to you by September 1. - Jane Dixon Anderson
Going golfing for a while, so if you had outstanding question that you asked me to research, there will be a slight delay. I will be unsubing from all Rootsweb lists for a short period. We don't have a long summers north of 52.5 degrees as do our southern members in Aus/NZ so one must take advantage of every minute. One advantage at this latitude are very long days so you can start a game after supper and complete it before dark Bob Cdn
There are some Elliotts in the Drumholm, Donegal and Laghy Records. Will have a look. Margaret

No Clark or Elliott births show up for Donegal in your early 1800 time frame all later 1800s. and none for LKS with your names. There are many Clarke's and Elliott's listed for Donegal in the GV data at my site http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hiflyte/ The GV data will give you a starting point in Donegal, at least it gives the area were your family may have lived, from there it is church records and lots of patience's. Along with thiis List join the rootsweb surname lists and LKS list and good list is the Y-IRL on Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Y-IRL/ Visit both of these sites they have great info regarding Ireland. Lindels site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegal/ Janes site at: http://www.from-ireland.net/index.htm and visit the local Family History Center (FHC) in your area, look in the phone book. Best I can do for now. Lots of luck Bob ========================== Jean & Bob Elliott wrote: <SNIP>Hi Bob, any suggestions to trace family in Donegal,....Clark born married James Elliot(t)
Hi Bob, any suggestions to trace family in Donegal, Ann (Nancy) Clark born 1804-1805, married James Elliot(t) , then 3 children born Donegal 1825-1835. Then they appear on 1851 census in Glasgow, with 3 more children born Glasgow, last one was my great grandfather, Joseph Stopford Elliot(t) born 1848 , but Mother is a widow. Joseph and Mother Ann appear on 1861 Glasgow census as well. I have found a possible ancestor in the Griffiths Valuation living in Arryheernabin by Fanad Head. Up until I found this entry, the family I am interested in seemed to mostly congregate in the Dunfanaghy area. How easy would it be for someone to get from Dunfanaghy to Arryheernabin? Overland it seems to be a long way but I was wondering whether it was possible by sea, as both places are on the coast. Any thoughts?? Sandra New Zealand
Hello from Australia . Can anyone tell me where this castle is is .I think Donegal but could be Tyrone I know there was Gallaghers in Lifford and Donaghmore at that time - early 1800`s . Laurie
Margie, My ancestor John McKeever is supposed to have married Mary McFadden prior to 1807, possibly in Fayette County, PA. A John McFadden lived nearby. By 1820, John McKeever had moved north to Armstrong County, PA. In 1827, he moved next door to Butler County, PA. There were several McFaddens nearby, including a Manasses McFadden. John and Mary named one of their children Manasses. They were all RC. However, I understand that there was another group of McFaddens who were not RC. RE: CANNON and MCFADDEN in Carrick Hi Marilee, I have a McFadden in my Donegal family, but he is from Dunfanaghy, in NW Donegal. I have 4 records of Cannon families in Carrick: 1) John and Mary in Meenavean townland, with 4 children (but no Barney) on the 1901 census 2) Michael Cannon and wife Nancy Lyons in RannaCille (RhinaKille) townland, with no children listed, in the 1878 Priest's Survey Book of Teelin 3) Patrick Cannon and wife Brigid Carre with no children listed, in Aghragh townland, 1878 Priest's Survey Book of Teelin. They were probably an older couple as there is a margin notation: "Peadar Paitsi's father" 4) Mary Cannon married to Patrick Heeney, with children Mary, age 24 and Peter, age 20, living in Aghragh townland. We also have John Cannon from Arragil townland in Kilcar, who married my husband's great-aunt, Mary Cassidy from Croaghlin (Carrick). He was born about 1889. His parents were James and Anna Cannon, from Kilcar. I have transcribed the baptismal registry of St. Columbas church in Carrick. There is no Barney, Bernard or Bryan Cannon as a son or a father, but there are several Cannons. I do not have permission from the parish priest to post the transcription, but if you have other first names, I'll be happy to do look-ups. I'm sure there must be more, but this is all I have as my family. Any help? Regards, Tamy

Bridget is the soul of this site; she writes most of the content and selects and edits the rest. Just last Tuesday the fifteenth, the day after her birthday, Bridget was admitted into the hospital intensive care unit with Congestive heart failure. She is still there, holding her own, but progress has been slow and unpredictable. She is on almost complete life support and I am terrified and not handling things very well. I'm sorry but I can't find the strength to do the maintenance without her. I also spend most of my time at the hospital. This is for everyone who has been so incredibly kind and thoughtful to me during this last terrible month - I am overwhelmed by the messages and cards and postcards etc I have received..............I don't know if I can properly express my appreciation to you all in an email, but I'll give it a go. I have been a member of this list since about 1998 and have always held that it is the BEST list, with the BEST people on it - generous and friendly, fun and kind. Because of that, my enjoyment of Donegal research really grew, leading me to build a website full of every scrap of Donegal resources I could lay my hands on - from there I started the lookups and I still really enjoy them - I enjoy the challenge of trying to find info for people and get almost as excited as the descendants when I find REALLY good info. The emails I receive back when I've been able to at least put someone on the right track have been such a buzz too :-D Over the years I've also 'met' and befriended some wonderful people! I'm realtively 'young' for a researcher - in my early 40s, I live in in a small town on the South Island of New Zealand with my husband and two sons (Conor, 2 years and Liam, 7 years) - this research has helped me retain my 'sanity' while raising my boys too :-) Unfortunately, being realtively young has not allowed me to avoid major health issues and it all caught up with me on the 20th May - firstly a heart operation developed a severe complication, then 3 days after recovering from that, I developed a severe complication to the complication.............I'm now home to recover from that secondary complication so I can return to hospital for the surgery I initially went in for in May - hopefully I will continue to improve enough so I can have that in about a month - the doctors don't want me any earlier than that, as they explained they did NOT want another severe complication to the severe complication to the severe complication! I'm with them - I've done the rounds of the cardiothorasic intensive care, cardiac care unit and acute cardiac care wards in the last 4 weeks and I'd just like to take it easy for a while :-) Its been a really tough time but I can say, without a shadow of doubt, that the messages and prayers of you all have really helped me get through this! I've still not read through all the messages (I've only been home 3 hours!), but while reading through those I have, in the back of my mind I was thinking ' my God, this womans a saint!' - then realised you were talking about ME! You've made me feel so humble and so cared for - and lifted my spirits so much! THANKYOU so much to everyone! Thankyou to Carol, the list owner, too! All the very best, Lindel
God bless you in your recovery Bridget and Lindel. I pray it will be speedy and complete. We have had God's blessing For Lindel on the Donegal list, I am sure there is another one for Bridget. My prayers and best wishes go to you both and your families. I will post her status here again in the next few days. > She, and I, could use all the prayers you can send our way. > Thank you, > Russ Haggerty > > > ==== DONEGALEIRE Mailing List ==== > Donegaleire listowner is Carol Queen. > Visit my homepages at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegaleire/ > QUEENSCASTLE BRANCHES AND BOUGHS > > ============================== > Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration > Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
