    3. Hi Bud! Just go to http://www.goldenpages.ie/extra/phonebook.html and enter the details you have............I checked already using Donegal as the county and came up empty, but the next county down is Sligo and there are listings under THAT county, such as "Brian Flanagan, Corlea, Ballyshannon, DONEGAL"............its a VERY Irish telephone directory!! Good luck and all the best, Lindel Bud Flanagan wrote: >Would some kind soul help me with the correct telephone number to reach a person in Bundoran and also Ballyshannon. > >Have just located a living relative in each of these places. >The family name is Flanagan > >Thanks to any and all replies. > > >==== DONEGALEIRE Mailing List ==== >Donegaleire listowner is Carol Queen. >Visit my homepages at: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~donegaleire/ >QUEENSCASTLE BRANCHES AND BOUGHS > >============================== >Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration >Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial. 3. To Laurie - lthompson@terrafirma.com.au RE Donegaleire-L@rootsweb.com 8-12-04 - Is it the THOMPSONs that you are searching for in Donegal? I have been searching Wileys and Porters there before 1840s, but my Thompsons were also of Irish ancestry, though I know not where. James Thompson b. 1795, d. 1842 in Lancaster Co., PA, USA, was son of Samuel Thompson and Agnes McCaslin. Anyone connect with any of these names?

    1. Re: [DONEGALEIRE] Convoy Presbyterian Church
    2. Rachel
    3. The short answer to your question is that it depends what you mean by 'operational'. You won't find many Prebyterian church records that early- most are from mid 1800s. Convoy's records are Baptisms fr 1822 and marriages from 1845 . The are available on microfilm in PRONI in Belfast (Public Record Office of Northern Ireland) and probably elsewhere but you should be able to view them at a Church of the Latter Day Saints (Mormon) Family History Centre if there is one near you.. But some Presbyterian congregations existed before this. Records were seldom kept as the law dictated worship should be at the parish church (CofI) - it was illegal in the 1750s and before to hold meetings for Pres worship and they often took place in private houses. Hence no-onekept records which could incriminate them. Some of the flavour of those times and some records are in two books by Alexander Lecky on the Laggan Presbytery. Both are long out of print and difficult to get. These are the names from Raphoe/Convoy- Ruling Elders and Commissioners 1672-1700 Joseph HENDERSON Edward HERVIES William MILLS Michael HENDERSON Robert ANDERSON Michael PYPER Patrick BELL Robert DICK Alexander STUART William RAMSAY James LAIRD James COWDEN Robert GRAY Robert WALKER John McCLURE Arthur McCLURE James FLEMMINE Richard McCLURE John SPROUL Alex McCONNELL Wm BENE For marriage records it is advisable to check COFI parish church records since this was where a marriage recognised in law took place. This was important if you had land you wanted your children to inherit. 3. Hi everyone Sorry if you receive this twice. My wifes mother was born 1907,possibly Newtoncunningham,at least that's what her oldest son told me. None of the other members of the family seem to know for sure. Her father was Hugh Quinn a Scutcher, and probably moved around a lot because the children seem to have been born in different places, one Margaret was born in Ardstraw Co.Tyrone, another Daniel in Manorcunningham. He was said to have come from Raphoe or Convoy. A lot of the records were lost in the Clydebank Blitz in 1941,and now my wife and her family would like to know EXACTLY where she was born. Would there be an index of births for Donegal and/or Tyrone for the dates around 1907 ?? I would be grateful for any help in this matter. Thanks Frank McGonigal Ont.Canada

    2. Hello Lindel and all I am researching Duffys: William Duffy and Rose McMonagle had following children: Bridget, Ann, Isabell,Mary, Frank and Hugh. Frank was my Greatgrandfather and lived in Baltimore, Maryland. His date of birth Aug. 25, 1854 and family tradition says they came from Donegal. I don't have anything but names for the siblings. Looking at the 1900 census it lists date of immigration as 1856. The 1910 census list date of immigration as 1865 so I am not sure exactly when his family came to the U.S. but he would have been young. They had cousins that lived in Delware, so when I exhausted all my resources in Maryland, I turned to Delaware and found a William and Rose Duffy living in New Castle-the town where the cousins also lived, with an infant son named William. A William was not listed in my family notes but perhaps he died an infant. This may not be my William since no other children are listed as living there with them at the time of the census in 1860 Anyway, to cut a long story short, I have gone over a lot of census' doing research on a Graham line these last few years and it is always the country of birth that is listed. However, in this case, the census taker had entered Mt. Pl. instead of a country. I thought it was worth a shot since I am new to Irish research and have so little to go on. Thanks for any ideas that might help! Delia
