    3. Hi, I've got a couple of MORROWs which may have a connection with Meg. I have a MARGARET MORROW who married PATRICK CAMPBELL (b. 6.4.1817) on 25.3.1841. I also have a ROBERT MORROW who married MARGARET CAMPBELL (b.30.4.1819) on 31.8.1841. Patrick and Margaret Campbell were brother and sister. My guess is that Robert and Margaret Morrow were also brother and sister, but I have no evidence. Any connection, Meg? Michael Cassidy (Researching McCrea, Campbell)

    1. [DONEGALEIRE] Alford/Magill marriage for Donegal natives in Old Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire, Scotland
    2. Meg Greenwood
    3. Stumbled across these 2 Donegal natives who married in Dumbartonshire, Scotland in the parish of Old Kilpatrick. I've been hunting ALFORDs in Donegal since an 1855 Marriage in Stirlingshire, Scotland in the parish of Campsie for Rachel MORROW [born ~1806, Killymard] revealed her parent's names as Margaret ALFORD and Edward MORROW. She wed an Edward MORROW in 1827, Donegal. Keep wondering if her father and her husband actually have the same name. No idea yet how these ALFORDs fit into the picture, the only ALFORD found in the 1857 Griffiths Valuations was a Robert ALFORD in Eleven Ballyboes, Moville Lower. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA Here are details for the marriage I found in Dumbartonshire : 1855 Marriages, Old Kilpatrick, Dumbartonshire Entry #9 - May 11 at Duntocher, Marriage [after Banns] was solemnized between us according to the Rites and Ceremonies of the Roman Catholic Church. Groom was John ALFORD currently residing Duntocher, usually residing Duntocher, 21y a Miner born County Donegal, Ireland to Thomas ALFORD, Labourer and Mary ALFORD. Bride was Mary MAGILL, currently residing Duntocher, usually residing Duntocher, 20y born County Donegal, Ireland to Patrick MAGILL, Labourer and Mary MAGILL. Signed by Francis DANAHER, Roman Catholic Clergyman, Duntocher. Witnesses were Alexander McCOY and Elizabeth DONAGHY [her mark X]. Registered May 12 at Old Kilpatrick. M. Findlay, Registrar. From this, I cannot be sure if the parents listed for bride and groom have the same surname because they are married.....or because they happen to have the same surnames regardless of them being wed. Can send JPG if needed. Meg Greenwood / Oklahoma USA =================================

Derry City and aspects of the adjoining County Donegal are included as is Donegal City, Coleraine, Ballycastle and Belfast together with all the other major towns and cities of Ireland. Unfortunately, really important places, like Ballymena and St Johnston are not yet included. In some cases these include records of members of convicts' families transported as free <http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/transp9.html> settlers. To mark the Australian Bicentenary in 1988, the Taoiseach presented microfilms of the most important of these records to the Government and People of Australia as a gift from the Government and People of Ireland. A computerised index to the records was prepared with the help of IBM and is available for use at various locations in Australia. While the collection of convict <http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/transp8.html> petitions dates from the beginning of transportation from Ireland to Australia in 1791, all transportation registers compiled before 1836 were destroyed in the Four Courts fire of June 1922. Therefore, if the person you are researching was convicted before 1836, but was not the subject of a petition, he or she will not appear on this database. In other words, the records from which the transportation database was compiled such as the transportation <http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/transp6.html> registers, convict reference files <http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/search01.html> http://www.nationalarchives.ie/topics/transportation/search01.html

    3. There are a series of 4 microfilms at the local Latter Day Saints church that have Donegal Parochial records [1279234-1279237]. There is another series of films with the same data, but there are 7 films in that series [926206-926213] so we didn't order it. Have copy/pasted the contents of the first series below in case anyone wishes to order a film from any Family History Center from a Latter Day Saints church. US fee is 5.50 for a 5-6 week rental, takes about 2-3 weeks for a film to arrive from Salt Lake City into Oklahoma. No idea on other countries. Most of these parochial films cover mid or late 1800s through early 1900s or thereabouts. Earliest year noted in the list is 1847, so there are no very early Parochial records to be had in any of these films. All the films below are for the Catholic church, I deleted duplicate wordings to keep the list simple to read. I have access to ALL FOUR of these films listed below, they are at the FHC 8 minutes from my home. Also one from the 'other' series, 926212 which has Killymard parochial records 1874-80. Was surprised to have all 4 films, I'd only ordered 2 of them. Someone else must have ordered in the others....they are all on permanent loan. ---------------------- Film #1279234 : Items 1 - 3 Parochial registers of St. Mary's (Gortahork, Donegal), 1871-1930 (Gortahork, Tullahobegley) Items 4 - 5 Parochial registers of Drumoghil (Donegal), 1856-1959. 3. The Association of Professional Genealogists in Ireland (APGI) welcomed the 27 May 2008 announcement from the National Library of Ireland that they are once again to allow public access to their microfilm copies of Roman Catholic parish registers from the dioceses of Cashel & Emly, Cloyne and Kerry. The National Library's collection of microfilms covers the surviving pre-1881 baptismal and marriage records of almost all Roman Catholic parishes throughout Ireland. In 1994 the National Library was supplied with a legal opinion by Muireann O Briain, S.C., which dismissed the notion of copyright in a manuscript which were created for the purpose of maintaining records and which was not 'the work of one person or of joint authorship'. Ms. O Briain further stated that even if copyright were upheld, anyone using microfilm copies of the registers for research purposes would not be infringing any such copyright. There should now be no restrictions on viewing any RC church records in either NLI or from the LDS.
