Have forwarded this message to the Donegal List and given him directions on how to join the mailing list Bob Cdn ----------------------------------------------- From Doug Valentine [email protected] --------------------------------------- Hi Folks, My great great grandfather James Spence married Barbara Montgomery in Killymard Parish in 1870. James was the son of William who is mentioned as a landowner in Drumstevlin in the 1857 Griffith's Valuation. James emigrated to Canada and his son, James, to the US where my grandfather Garnert Day Spence was born. I'm hoping to find out more about William Spence (and his ancestors) from Killymard if I can. Any help would be most appreciated. Best, Doug Valentine ===============================================

    3. Dear fellow researchers, I notice some of you can give information about schools that our ancestors attended. Can anyone help me find school my grandmother, Agnes Clare Craig attended. She was born in Donegaltown in 1879 and lived there until she emigrated to USA, to Boston, but possibly by way of New York about 1895. So I guess she would have been in school up until she left. She lived on the Diamond. Thanks . Clare

    3. "Drumholm Graveyard" is this the same as St Bridget's (R.C.) in Ballintra, Co Donegal? Patrick in sunny Sydney Sylvia Arkinson's Handbook on Drumholm graveyard will be ready next week. She is getting 150 printed initially as she is paying for them herself with all profits going to Drumholm Church. They have several thousand names both from the headstones and the Burial Records as well as grave numbers etc. She prefers to call it a hand book as it is a record. She has an E-mail address organised for the sale of the books but it is not set up on the computer as yet. The books are 10 euro plus postage and packing. She will get a postage price from the post office later. In the meantime if anyone wants a book get in touch with me and I will pass it on to her and it will give her an idea how many is needed. She can get them printed as she gets orders. She is going to do Rossnowlagh Churchyard after this. I cannot wait until I get my hands on my own copy as I have only seen the book when she brought it down to show me and it is just great. I will not be able to go to the Craft Sale where she is putting the book on sale on December 1st but she is bringing me down my copy the next day. 3. Re Drumholm Handbook Thank you to everyone who mailed me about Sylvia's book. It will cost 15 euro with postage and packing to anywhere outside Ireland. She is setting up a bank account for Graveyard Publications where the money can be paid into, I have reserved 20 books so far from the initial print but most of them are already ordered. She is also setting up an E-mail address as well for them. It is important to send the cheques or money orders for euro as with the dollars going up and down it is not so easy to work it out. Please wait to hear from me when to send the money. Thank you, I will be in touch with everyone who E-mailed. Margaret

I recieved this information from Ben Sweeney, a lovely man from donegal who has been a great help in getting info on my elusive Great-Grandfather James Langan "James Langan born 9/1/1876 -baptised 11/1/1876 priest Fr E, Gibbons, parents Mary Sweeney @ Patrick Langan, sponsor Grace Sweeney. The address was Magherabouy which is in the parish of Leck and if you check the 1857 griffith valuation you will find an Ann Mc Swyne which was the name given to the Sweeney, she could be Marys mother and they had no land and paid 5 shillings per year to the landlord Mr Armour and one of this generation still lives there.I think I know where Patrick Langan lived in a large 2 story hse at Lurgybrack which is still there in Leck parish." can you recommend a good map series to buy so I can get a better sense of how these areas work together.
