Posting for Stephanie (Leach) Basar. Darlene DVHH Email List Administrator I am requesting help from Eva Brown because I am born and raised in MI (Ann Arbor) and so is my husband (Birmingham). We still live here. I just received a 'Stephansfeld Famillienbuch' CD which was very helpful for our Merle genealogy but our Nicklaus Merle (b. 1861) was married to Katherina Eck (b. 1856-1857) and I cannot find her or her sister Elizabeth or their parents. Nicklaus and Katherina (Eck) Merle came to Detroit area in early 1900's with a son Nicholas and daughter Margareta. Margaret married Anton Frank and their daughter Marjorie b. 1927 married George Basar b.1925 (Croatian) and they were my in laws. If there is information that would be helpful in finding the Eck side of family I will appreciate it. The grand daughter of Katherina and Nic Merle is still living at age almost 96 and sharp with memory/history and can identify photos but doesn't know the parents names of Katherina and Elizabeth. She thinks Elizabeth married a Jacob Truitt and was in St. Louis Missouri at some time. I have run a DNA test through Ancestry.com for my husband and it has been helpful in finding others related but only one has the Eck name in their ancestry and are at a roadblock, too. I have replied to Stephanie and don't know how I can help her. This village is not part of my research and I have not done any research in Michigan as my family's and my husband's are outside of Michigan. So perhaps there is someone with info on the list of either this village or a good Michigan source of info.
