Camilla, I took a look through my Weigand families and did not find any link to my Grandfather's Weigand family in Gakowa. I'll take a look and see if I can find anything. My 5th Great-Grandfather Josef Weigand may have been from Esslingen an der Neckar in Baden-Württemberg. born abt. 1757 https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/62098350/person/30084753780/facts I have a tree on another Weigand family from Werschetz. They were apparently from Erlenbach am Main in Bavaria. https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/person/tree/111181778/person/200083132840/facts Regards, Ray On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, 6:04:06 PM EST, Camilla Hardee via DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES <[email protected]> wrote: Trying again. Through ancestry.com, I found the following information on my husband’s great-great grandfather (who immigrated to America in 1904) in Romania, Vital Records: Arad, Bulci, romano-catolici (romisch-katholisch), 1852-1886. Norbertus Joannes Weigand, baptised January 12, 1870; parents Joannes Weigand and Clementina Stenda. Additional research shows that Joannes Evangelista Weigand and Clementina had 7 other children baptized in the same church between 1859 and 1872. Joannes E. Weigand, b. 1859; Antonius Weigand, b. 1861; Caroline Weigand, b. 1864; Alexander Weigand, b. 1865. Carolus Josephus Weigand, b. 1866, d. 1920; Francisca Magdalena, b. 1868; Norbertus J., b. 1870, d. 1943 in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A., and Joanna Clementina, b. 1872. NOTE: Norbertus’ death certificate in America says he was born in Hungary instead of Romania. I assume that is because of border changes over the years. One of his son’s birth certificates specifies that Norbertus was born in Facset, Hungary. Can anyone offer a) insight into the above information b) death information on any of the above, except Norbertus; and c) suggestions on where to look for Joannes Weigand’s and Clementina Stenda’s birth/death information? I found another document in the United States that says Norbertus’ father was born in Vienna, Austria. Other family stories suggest the Weigands were from Germany. Any information you can provide is appreciated. Thank you.
