Hello Barb, Salasch refers to a field away from the village that usually had some sort of barn or building on it. My grandfather had a large flock of sheep and the man that tended them would stay on the salasch for the summer. I know of one DS family who after they were expropriated from their house in used someone’s salasch as temporary place to live. Anne D.
