    1. [DVHH] Area's - Banat Villages
    2. Nick Tullius via
    3. Barb, These Banat villages became formally part of Romania through the terms of the Peace Treaty of Trianon (1920). The Romanian part formed Timiș-Torontal County and covered 7,600 km2 of the the Banat. Currently, the territory that comprised Timiș-Torontal County is mostly part of Timiș County, with some communes in the Arad County. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timi%C8%99-Torontal_County Sânmihaiu German (Romanian); Deutsch-Sankt-Michael, Deutschsanktmichae (German); Zillasch (Schwowisch dialect); Németszentmihály(Hungarian) is located 20 Kilometer SW of Temeswar-Timișoara. It is part of Sânmihaiu Român, in Timiș County, Banat, Romania. Some of these towns when I enter them into my family tree give me an option of Torontal or Timmis and I need to know how to decide. Also my grandparents, would say they were from Austria-Hungary, but I think that when they came to the states they were really in Romania and all their papers say Romania. One more question. When my grandparents and their friends would talk they always would refer to Zillasch everyonewhy would they call it that when it was really DSM. Does anyone have any info on Zillasch (Sillash etc.) Thanks any & everyone who can help, Barb D. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
