your grandparents could be correct. Transylvania (Seibenbergen) was part of the Habsburg Empire. It was taken from Hungary and given to Romania as a reward for fighting on the Allied side during WW1. Are these villages in Transylvania? Many of the towns there had a large ethnic german population. ____________________________________ From: donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com Reply-to: bbd2424@gmail.com To: donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com Sent: 07/21/2014 05:37:43 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time Subj: [DVHH] Area's Hi, Can someone explain what year Gottlob, Deutsch St.Michael, Wojteg, Wiseschdia, went from being Austria –Hungary to Romania. Some of these towns when I enter them into my family tree give me an option of Torontal or Timmis and I need to know how to decide. Also my grandparents, would say they were from Austria-Hungary, but I think that when they came to the states they were really in Romania and all their papers say Romania. One more question. When my grandparents and their friends would talk they always would refer to Zillasch everyonewhy would they call it that when it was really DSM. Does anyone have any info on Zillasch (Sillash etc.) Thanks any & everyone who can help, Barb D. ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
