Hi Manfred, I am the co-coordinator for Kischker, which lies only a few kilometers north-east of Schowe.  Although the Kischker Familienbuch  does not have a record of either of these ancestors, both Hetzel and Ziwich names existed in small numbers in Kischker.  Unfortunately, the information is imcomplete.  However, this may give you some possible leads. Hetzel, (given name unknown)     (evangelisch)   born approx. 1890 in Schowe   He married Margaretha Roth "Krischdin-Lisse"  born 14.08.1894 in Kischker. Hetzel, Friedrich (ev.)  born approx. 1855 in Schowe, died in Torschau.  He married Elisabetha Schmidt  (born 16.02.1859 in Kischker) on 29.04.1877 in Kischker. There is no record of any sons born to them.  They had two daughters: 1) Rosina Theresia 2) Theresia. Ziwich,Michael (ev.) born approx. 1835 in Schowe.  He married  I.  Theresia Sohl (ev.) (born approx. 1837 in Kischker) on 30.01.1853 in Neu-Schowe.  There is no record of any offspring. He married II. Magdalena Haller (ev.) (born approx. 1840) in approx. 1864 in Neu-Schowe.  They had one son, Philipp, born approx. 1865 in Schowe.  He married Katharina Eidenmueller (ev.) born 20.04.1869 in Kischker.  There is no record of any offspring. I don't think that this is much help for you, but perhaps if someone else has some Schowe records, these people might be connected with your wife's ancestors. I have the following information: Jacob Hetzel, born about 1920 Schowe, died 2004, Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Married to Katharina, who died in 1992. Son of Philipp and Katharina, from Schowe; twin brother of Philipp and brother of Anna. Predeceased by all of these. In 1942 he was a violinist in the Hungarian Opera Radio Orchestra. I have more information on the family, but I have to find it, which could take a few days :) Will get back to you. Roy, thank you very much for your information. The grandfather I look for must have been born between 1870 and 1900. Unfortunately my wife does not recall her grandfather's first name. I got a hint that other members of the family ended up in Cleveland, so this is where I continue my search... Thanks once again!
