I sent the note over a week ago and she responded quickly. I read her story and it's hard to imagine such treatment. Why is it we never heard of these atrocities? Some of my family knew of them, communication? I went on to read other stories. I started this search because of my Mother. She passed away two years ago. She was 90 and first generation. She really didn't know a lot about her ancestry, only where my Grandmother was from and we never knew her Dad's village or her Grandparents. I found his village through naturalization records. It would have been so much easier to ask my Grandmother and Grandfather these questions. My Grandmother is from Klek and Grandfather Cesko Selo, both in Serbia.
