Can anyone assist? Sandra, I invite you to subscribe to the DVHH mail list, see: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/intl/HUN/DONAUSCHWABEN-VILLAGES.htm l - Jody From: DVHH Feedback [mailto:contact_request@dvhh.org] Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2012 6:12 PM To: dvhh.community@comcast.net Subject: Genealogy Research The following feedback was sent by Sandra Russell sandramrussell@msn.com via the www.dvhh.org Contact page: Hello: I am hoping to find some information on my maternal grandmother. I have very little info and much of it is conflicting. I believe her given name was Anna Roth. She was born 1889 possibly 1890 and came to the USA somewhere around 1905-1906. She ultimately married Peter N. Caliman and resided in East Chicago, Indiana with Peter and her four children until she died in 1935. I don\'t know her birthplace, but she claimed to be Roumanian but also spoke German and Hungarian. Could she be the Anna Roth I saw coming from Fibis, Hungary on the Pannonia/Port of Fiume? Saw another Anna Roth of about same age coming to America from Hungary on another ship departing from Bremen, Germany in 1906 on the Friedrich Der Grosse. Would you have any info that might be helpful? Thank you so much. DVHH-L Subscriber: N IP Address: 108.95.84.235
Sandra, the 1930 census indicates she immigrated in 1909, and her husband in 1907, so they were married in the US. Have you found a marriage record for them which might name their parents? I believe this is it in Lake County, Indiana: https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1942-21136-10617-38?cc=1410397 Interesting that the first half of the license has been filled out, but not the part where it says that they were actually married (where the minister is supposed to sign). What does Anna's death certificate say?
