Hi all.... My brother and I both very recently contacted immigration... Within the last year. Mom would have been naturalized in the 70's and is still alive. We were both told bt different officials, and I found it online, that it would take a Freedom of Information Act FOIA request. They charge $300.00 or $600.00 (not sure which since I proceeded differently). This is to get a duplicate naturalization certificate. Wow!!! Talk about inflation!!! Maybe inflation has taken a toll in the intervening 6 years, but $500 to $600 seems way to high. BTW, my grandfather never had a US passport, he never needed one. But it might make a difference that he died in 1945. Contact the Naturalization department. They are easy to find on the Internet.
