    3. I am tracing a family member who claims he was born in Partos, Yugoslavia on his naturalization records in 1951 in Chicago.  His name was Joseph Thierjung (a common Banat name).  I am not able to find what was the German name or even the current name for Partos.  Can anyone help me find this information? 3. According to Google, Partoş (Romanian Părtaşi - 1924) is a village in the Banloc (German: Banlok) commune in Timiş county, Banat, Romania. Other sources do not indicate a substantial ethnic German (Banat-Swabian) population during the pre-WWII period. 3. Early on, while working on my family tree, I came upon the name "Trukur" [2584 in the FB-Lenauheim]. I was puzzled: it didn't sound German, nor French, nor Slavic. Later on I found out on the Internet that the original name was "Tropcourt" [in French "trop court" means "too short", so the name may have come from a person of small stature?!]. Later I found many more direct ancestors with French names, some originating in Lorraine, and others in the "Belgian Province of Luxemburg". Here are some examples from a total of about 370 direct ancestors: Denuel, Dupont, Hanoe/Hannui(?), Thierjung/Thirion, Aubry, Lefévre, André, Lambert, Remacle, Dupré, Lambinet, Seichepine, Mumper/Maubert, Lallemand, Longfils, Banaux, Gobreville, Pignol, Dubois, Bourguignon, Girard, Stercq, Stragole, Poulin, Bertrand, Leclerq, de la Bouviere, Courtcolas, de Marimont, de Condé, etc. The oldest ancestors (16th generation) are Nicolas "le Hongre" de Bertrand de Marimont (*~1430; +~1490) and Jaquemin de Condé de Flory (* ~1420). Maybe some DNA from these ancestors predisposed me toward acquiring French ("the language of Moliére")?! Good luck in your research, Nick Tullius -----Original Message----- From: Charles AMANN [mailto:charles.amann@sfr.fr] Sent: February 16, 2019 8:25 AM To: Donauschwaben Villages Helping Hands (DVHH) Subject: [DVHH] Re: Partos, Yugoslavia Certainly a french name Thirion Envoyé de mon iPad > Le 15 févr. 2019 à 20:53, Robert Evensen <revensen@comcast.net> a écrit : > > I am tracing a family member who claims he was born in Partos, Yugoslavia on his naturalization records in 1951 in Chicago. 3. Hi Nick, Very interesting information.  Yes, I also have some of these names (as well as Tullius) and am currently working with Ian Schoenherr (my 6th cousin) on Nikolaus Allar and Anne Dommenge also from Luxembourg, Belgium.  There were many residents of the Province who left for the Banat.  I know work is being done on the Lorraine, but is anyone studying migration from Beligium?
