Many (and maybe most) of the family books online are restricted for use at a Family History Library. But I know that at least one can be accessed at home. For example, Kernei can be accessed at home. However, you must access it through the catalog, not through the books menu option. Sent from Mail for Windows 10

I think these are listed on dvhh.org as lookups I would do, but I will list them here as well. I have the following Familienbuchen and would be glad to do lookups for you. It would help if you know, for sure, that your ancestor came from the town for which you are requesting info. Here are the books I have (they are for those who were Lutheran (Evangelische) and Calvinist (Reformierte) congregants: EVANGELISCHE Izmény Gyoma Liebling (all the info has been placed on ancestry.com Betty Solooki) Mezöberény Semlak REFORMIERTE Balmázujváros Semlak I purchased all of these Familienbuchen in direct contact with either the researcher/author or with the person who had been designated to accept money for the book. I am grateful for your offer but none of those towns have tied into my family tree (at least not yet). In addition, my family was Catholic. How does someone find out who can sell the various books? Hopefully your village is on the List of Family Books. Next do a google search for a Familienbuch or Ortssippenbuch for that village, then do a google for the village. I was really lucky--the village had a HOG (Heimatortsgemeinschaft) and they had a web site for their organization. So you might even google for a HOG for your village. If someone has authored a book--they want some publicity for their efforts. Some of the Familienbuchen are really wonderful and are evidence of a lot of hard work and money--they want/need to sell what they've published. Have you looked at the Mormon web site at the library at the site and then looking for your village there. Have you visited at the Family History Center nearest you? They really are helpful in the centers. If their library has a familienbuch for your village, they will show you how to "borrow" the media they have on hand. I don't know what media they are using now. When I started they had filmstrips and you read it on filmstrip equipment. If you find material on the Mormon site, that means it will be available for borrowing and then reading whatever media is available at the FHC (Family History Center). Don't give up! When I started my search for my family home village, I knew of about perhaps 20 members of my family. The Internet opened all kinds of doors for me and I now have 20,000 relatives on my family tree. Remember, each generation is exponential! How I wish my parents were still living--how excited they would be at all that I have found out. If you already know what I'm going on about, excuse my using up your valuable research time! Good luck!
