    3. That definately sounds like a scam to me Hans. If you do a google search on "Inheritance Scams from the UK" you will be surprised what pops up! Those scams are usually done by Nigerians pretending to be in another country. Please don't fall for it. http://www.actionfraud.police.uk/protect-yourself/inheritance-fraud https://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=A0LEVz7akm5TUx0AtNpXNyoA;_ylu=X3oDMTEzYnYza281BHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMQRjb2xvA2JmMQR2dGlkA1ZJUDI4Ml8x?qid=20090710142103AAZEz7d http://www.moneywise.co.uk/scams-rip-offs/scams/watch-out-inheritance-scam http://www.fraudguides.com/consumer-inheritance-scam.asp Daniela Ivkovic Showley -----Original Message----- From: John Haumann <haumann@earthlink.net> To: DVHH Donauschwaben <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sat, May 10, 2014 2:23 pm Subject: [DVHH] possible inheritance scam Hello fellow listers. I'm not sure what to make of this. Last week I received by regular mail, a letter suggesting that I might be the sole surviving heir of an individual who died without a will and left a sizable account in the UK. The letter (which bore no official letterhead) claims that the originator is a "chartered accountant" and "independent auditor" in the UK, and suggests that the recipient of the letter has been identified through some preliminary research as a potential heir. Based on the nature and some unusual wording in the letter, I am highly skeptical of its validity. Since the surname of the deceased is that of a Schwob, I was wondering if others on the DVHH list might have received a similar letter. 3. Good Morning Everyone, I am going to Europe next month. This is only my second time there and the first trip was on a cruise. The first leg of my trip will be flying to Paris and taking a train to Strasbourg. I am meeting my daughter there and going on to Bern, Salzburg, and Munich. If any of you are familiar with the train system and can give me advice on which websites I need to look at and if I should prebook everything or not, I would greatly appreciate your sending me a private email. Does anyone know how easy/hard it is to find the train at the airport in Paris? I realize this is not necessarily a DVHH question, but if any group could help me with navigating Europe, it would be this one :) Many Thanks, Eileen

    3. http://www.bahn.de/p/view/index.shtml I have found the train system to be well organized and very punctual. If it says the train leaves at 7:37.... it does. When you buy tickets, be aware they have 1st and 2nd class tickets and are very strict about what section you sit in. Just look for the number on the outside of the door and in the train cabs. You'll see either 1 or 2. Just pick a seat in that section. Also, keep your luggage to a minimum, because you will have to schlepp it around. When you switch trains, you sometimes need to change platforms. The passageways between platforms can either be underground or overhead. Either way, it involves stairs. Also, the step from the platform (which are numbered or have letters assigned to them) to the train is not always on a level plane. Each city may have more than one train station. Look for the appropriate names... for example... Neustadt Hauptbahnhof or Neustadt-Freiburg Bahnhof. They will print out a detailed itinerary for you if you ask them. FYI... platform 1A is different than platform 1B. I would travel like that again in a heartbeat. Enjoy the trip... Wish I was there! 2. Daniela
    3. Hi there Lotte, I can't help you with the print you are looking for. But, several months ago I bought around 10 Donuschwaben books and "The Innocent Must Pay" was one of them. It's a wonderful hard cover book and has a great map of the lower Danube region on the back cover. And a map of Rudolfsgnad concentration camp. My mother was also in that death camp for 4 years until it closed, so I desperately wanted this book. There is only one way you can get it. You must call the publisher. University of Mary Press. When you call them ask for the Public Affairs Office and just tell them exactly what you want. You want to buy a copy of "The Innocent Must Pay" written by Maria Horwath Tenz. Now they may transfer you to several different extensions. If you get cut off or no one answers, call them back. They are located in Bismarck, ND telephone #701-255-7500. When I called the lady I spoke with said they have a box full off this book. I believe I paid around $25.00 over the phone on credit card and they mailed it to me within 3 days. The book is FANTASTIC. Goodluck. 1. Re: [DVHH] REHM in Grabatz?
    2. Linda   I don't know what to say, I am so excited.  I'm sure this has to be my ggf's records, it has to be.   His birthday is not as he thought but his brothers wife's last name is what I have confirmed as well.   Linda, what you have discovered does have me baffled a little bit.  Some things are not what was thought but other names and dates are too much of a coincidence to be wrong.   Do you know of other places to look where this information could be confirmed?   I gratefully thank you for this information that you have found.   With much thanks   Dana Schneider Saskatoon, Sask.   p.s.  is there some way that you could scan and email me this information?                     On Thu, 8 May 2014 17:56:35 -0400, Linda Bautz McKenna <famline@embarqmail.com> wrote: I have a Johann REHM in the Familienbuch der Gemeinde Kowatschi im Banat > by Jakob Arenz 2011. > > The birthdate for this Johann REHM is 29 Jan 1876. > > family: parents Anton Rehm b10 Apr 1835 Grabatz d. 28.01.1878 Kow > Chris Schierer b. abt 1836 Pesak > d 06.07.1876 Kow. > > This was 2nd marriage for both > > children: > Nikolaus b 15.08.1862 Kow d. 14.11.1920 Kow > Stefan b. 29.01.1865 Kow d. 30.10.1867 Kow > Christina b. 08.05.1867 Kow d 04.04.1872 Kow > Michael b 17.08.1873 Kow > Johann b. 29.01.1876 Kow > > father Anton remarried 12.11.1876 Kow to Charlotte Gravits who was b. > 12.07.1853 Hod. > and they had a son Michael b. 10.04.1878 Kow. > > > He married 01.02.1898 Kowatschi to Magdalena Schröder who was born > 23.05.1880 Kow. > children: > Theresia b 27.02.1900 Kow > Barbara b. 11.07.1902 Kow > > > > notation says Johann moved to McKees Rocks, Pa in 1909 > > Linda Bautz McKenna > > > ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana" <diana@villaflorida.co.uk> > To: <schdan2@sasktel.net>; "DVHH mail list" > <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2014 5:21 PM > Subject: [DVHH] REHM in Grabatz? > > > > Hi Dana, > > > > I've checked all the REHM names in Grabatz and I'm afraid there are no > > matches for your ancestors. 1. [DVHH] books, art prints, etc.
    2. Lotte Devlin
    3. All, I'm very interested in obtaining two items: 1) A print of "The migration of the Donauschwaben in the 18th century" by Stephan Jäger, the masthead painting on the DVHH website 2) The Book The Innocent Must Pay by Maria Horwath Tenz - the email address contact for this book on the DVHH web site keeps kicking back as undeliverable. Any suggestions? Lotte Devlin

    1. Re: [DVHH] DNA
    2. I had my DNA tested through Ancestry, too, along with my mom's (I was hoping to get more of a DS connection with hers). My tree is currently private because I am correcting a line and I'm behind in citations. I downloaded 30+ church records and didn't cite them at the same time. (I know, foolish). However, if anyone gets a match to Barbara Lowe or 1_suervl, please contact me and I will give you access to my tree. Sue ---- barbara <bschlafer@cox.net> wrote: > I have had mine tested. 1. [DVHH] Re Rehm in Kovaci (aka Kowatscchi, Temeskovaci, Covaci)
    2. Linda Bautz McKenna
    3. diana, I forgot to mention that Kowatschi is the German name of the village. Under Hungarian rule it was Temeskovaci often abbreviated as Kovaci and Covaci. As to the birthdate, often they may be off by a day or more....my grandmother's actually lists her baptism date two days after her birth as her birthdate. I suppose it depends on where the info was taken from...civil or church records. Also Johann had two half siblings from his father's 1st marriage. Maria b 09.06.1866 Kow. d. 26.08.1874 Kow Georg b. 28.08.1860 Kow d 15.19.1860 Kow. If this is your Johann...I have his parents' mother and father's name too. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Diana" <diana@villaflorida.co.uk> To: <schdan2@sasktel.net>; "DVHH mail list" <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 06, 2014 5:21 PM Subject: [DVHH] REHM in Grabatz? > Hi Dana, > > I've checked all the REHM names in Grabatz and I'm afraid there are no > matches for your ancestors.
