I will be going to the Milwaukee courthouse in in the next couple of weeks. I can look for birth, marriage and death records. I need a name and date to find the records. Before 1931 I can look at the record. After 1931 it cost $7 to look at a record. After 1931 the records are stored in drawers not in books and the clreks are afraid that people will put the records back in the wrong drawer and the record will be lost because it isn't where the index book says it should be. This has been my brick wall for more than 25 years. My grandfather Johann Simon emigrated to the United States (through Canada) in Nov 1905. He left a very complete trail from the time he arrived in North America until his death in 1937. But I am completely clueless about anything in Europe. Various documents indicate that he was born around 1870. His emigration record says his last place of residence was Mitrovitza. The 1920 US census says he and his parents were all born in Slavonia. The 1930 census says he and both parents were born in Hungary. The mother tongue is listed as German. When I got his death certificate, I found that his fathers name was Nicholas. His mother’s maiden name was blurred but looks like Koilen. Very old oral history states that he may have had a sister who emigrated to Philadelphia. I have tried following that lead but it led nowhere. I have no idea what his religion was. Do these meager clues fit anyone else’s Simon family or does anyone have a suggestion as to another direction I could take. Thank you. Kathy Kennedy from the dry Southwest Sent from my iPhone

Thanks for the private replies in regard to this, but think it would benefit others on the list. It appears it will be in Kitchener for 2018 Labor Day and in Cleveland (Olmstead Falls), Ohio in 2019. Sylvia, I think we may have connected briefly on Facebook awhile back regarding Ruma. I've done some research since that time and might be able to help you with your KREUTZER line. The other names, except RIELKE, are familiar to me and I could take a look in any of the books I have on Ruma for you if you could provide additional info. Happy to do what I can for any other Ruma researchers as well. Happy New Year!! I'm searching for the surnames Bischof and/or Lang from Zsablya, Hungary (now Serbia). My Great-Great Grandfather Simon Bischof and his wife Katherina (nee Lang). I was told they were Lutheran/Protestant and I have hit a complete dead end in my family research as I understand it is an impossible feat to obtain vital records from Novi Sad due to the conditions of the records office. My last resort is to find on connection through here. Thank you. I didn't know that. I found the marriage of Victoria Toth and Lajos Gotz in Backa Palanka. I found the birth of two children. I have a picture taken in Palanka in the early 1030's that includes the Victoria and Lajos. I have the address of the Gotz family in Bandenitz Post Zachun, Meckenburg, Germany, Russian Zone definitely used in 1960. I have memories of my mother tieing boxes in a very precise way for mailing to the Gotz family and addressing it "Russian Zone. She bought yards and yards of fabric, sewed the sides together, gathered the top and called it used skirt. This would have been late 40's. When my great grandmother, the mother of Victoria Toth Gotz, was finally allowed to leave Palanka and came to America in 1952 she told of her daughter in Germany she had not seen for 15 years. Thank you. My Grandfather, Isidor Stadler was born in Detta in 1875. His father, Marton Stadler was possibly born in Hatzfeld in 1838. Marton was married (1869) to Rosalia Trautner (b1847, d1864) possibly in Detta. Rosalia was born in Masdort, Toronal. Romania and died in Detta. After Rosalia's death, Marton married Theresia Adams.
