    3. Hi Roy. Nice offer. I have an ancestor named Georg Kessler born 1755 Elsass, Frankreich Is this the same town ? The research was done by Dr. Gerhard Hein. It is titled "Familienbücher Krummes Elsaß". The two CDs contain records from virtually every village in Elsaß/Alsace as well as some in Lothringen/Lorraine. The data has been transcribed into typed text and is in German (not photocopied church records). My Engel ancestry has been reported in various sources to be from the village of Lützelstein in Alsace (now called La Petite Pierre). Dr. Hein's research confirms that this is correct.I am offering my time to anyone who wishes to have any lookups done on these CDs. Here is a link to the website from which I purchased the CDs since it lists the villages that have been researched and in case anyone wishes to purchase their own copies. You will see that the price is 47.95 Euros. I received the CDs within two weeks. The invoice was included with the shipment and I paid with PayPal. 2. Kelly Dazet
    3. Hello all DVHH list members, It was nice to get input today from Roy Engel in regards to the color of pigs in Kischker. I seem to read so little here from members that had family/ancestors in the Batschka, namely Kischker, an Evangelich (Lutharn) village. Most of the chatter here seems to be about the Banat and elsewhere (and I presume, Catholic). I do know a few here that had ancestors in Kischker, namely Roy, Eve Brown, Jeff Rau and Constantin Gross. Are there others here? As you may know, my Dietrich ancestors seem to have been among the original founding colonists in Kischker, but they didn't remain long. In 1806/7 they emigrated again to Neuburg, South Russia, now the Ukraine. Recently I have two new DNA matches who's family lived in Kischker and then Alexanderhilft, Odessa. I know of no common ancestors, so I'm guessing there could be a Kischker connection (or earlier in Germany). The thing is, as far as I know the the Kreis family are not in either of the two OFBs for Kischker. Peter Kreis arrived in Alecanderhilft with his wife Elisabetha Peger, and three sons, Peter, Balthasar, and Heinrich Jakob. (KBs show that all three were born in Kishcker). Kalbruner and Wilhelm says the family came from the Pfalz, but Karl Stumpp says they came from Württemberg. Does anyone have any information on this Kreis family? Indecently, they have EWZ files which I have viewed. They were among those that applied to be evacuated out of the Ukraine through Poland to Germany. They lived a few years in Germany, but didn't feel comfortable or welcome there -- referred to often as "Rucksack Deutcher" they worked as farm hands, a big change from having their own farms (as I understand it) in Rosenfeld, Freudental Parish, Odessa. They eventually emigrated to Winnepeg, Canada. Kind regards, Kelly

I asked my father, who is suffering from moderate dementia, whether he remembers what colour the pigs were in his village of Kischker in Batschka.  He was having a fairly lucid day yesterday and he was quite sure that there were pink pigs and black pigs, with no spotted or variegated ones.  This suggests to me that they were distinct breeds and were deliberately kept from interbreeding.  There must have been a reason for this but it is unknown to my father.  It is possible that each farmer that raised pigs had their own preference and the two breeds were therefore de facto physically kept apart. 3. Hi Bernie: My wife is Nancy Liebgott. Her family also traces back to Brestowatz. This is the first I’ve heard of other Liebgotts on this list, and I would be interested in comparing notes.  My wife’s Liebgotts have been in the USA since 1908, but I’m sure there must be a connection to your family in Brestowatz before that. Her parents are Joseph Liebgott (1926-1981) and Anne McKenna (1930-..) of Detroit, Michigan. Joseph’s parents were Frank Liebgott (1884-1939) and Barbara Zimmermann (1894-?), both born in Brestowatz.Frank Liebgott arrived in Minnesota, USA, in 1908.Frank had a sister named Anna (1882-1921). Frank’s parents were Franz (Ferencz) Liebgott and Elizabeth Jovanovich, both of Brestowatz. I don’t know how far back your research goes, but if there is a possible connection, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Mark Reed On 2/27/2019 9:02 AM, Darlene Dimitrie wrote: > Forwarding message from Bernie Liebgott: > > From: Bernie Liebgott <b.liebgott@sympatico.ca> > To: <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> > Cc: > Bcc: > Date: Mon, 25 Feb 2019 17:40:56 -0500 > Subject: Re: [DVHH] Re: Response to all Roll Call messages. > Hello Helen > > Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. 3. While the original posting said that the question (in her own words) was "weird", I disagree. I know that she is a historical novelist. This is the kind of important detail that you look for in a historical fiction novel. It's been quite interesting to read the responses. Paul A.
