    3. Many thanks to all the volunteers who have been working so hard. And a special thanks to you, Jody -- without your hard work and impressive dedication, none of this would have happened. -----Original Message----- From: Jody McKim Pharr <jodymckimpharr@comcast.net> To: DVHH Mail List <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wed, Jan 29, 2020 10:00 am Subject: [DVHH] Thank you > Vielen Dank > Köszönöm > Mulțumesc > Хвала вам - Dear Rootsweb Listers, (I hope this message does come out all jumbled out like it usually does for my post.  If it does, I apologize now!) This has been an amazing journey over the last 17 years via Rootsweb.  Personally, as the founder and webmaster of DVHH, I never imagined we'd be still going strong for this long.  A lot of factors could have been a good part of it, like Facebook burst with numerous genealogy groups encouraging people to find their roots; especially the DNA sites.  This prompted folks to ask their elders questions to where their ancestors came from.  And it's no secret DNA kits are among the top Christmas presents for several years.  So DVHH grew alongside of the our mail list and then DVHH Facebook.  Some subscribers are silent but post roll call in January each year.  Some have found cousins among us.  Many have broken through brick walls.  Most assuredly we at DVHH were glad to help in your endeavors.  No matter how you came to find us, we were glad you were here; and hope you continue to be a part of our new mail list at groups.io. I want to give a special thanks to all of the DVHH volunteers, for without them there would be no DVHH or mail list.  To all VOLUNTEERS, lookup guides, village coordinators, settlement area coordinators, administrators, board members, membership team, editors, translators and content contributors - THANK YOU - you are the backbone of the DVHH. I'd like to thank the various Donauschwaben Clubs who welcomed DVHH with open arms and gave us a place at the yearly labor day events.  Some great folks among them, especially the Trenton Club and Mansfield. I also want to thank Rootsweb for the years of not only providing a place for us to gather but in servicing the servers and assisting Mail list Administrators.  Yes, we are at the end of an era as we knew it.  But we have secured a new platform for researchers to be a part at groups.io (watch for an email!) Thank you everyone, that's quite a burst of responses. I'm going to forward this thread over to the new list which is in TEST mode. We're finding out a lot of interesting things happening, when different devices and different email clients are interacting via a conversation, in addition to the Group.io massaging of the email, especially the header which contains the FROM, TO, CC among other things. If you think about it, it's like a technology "Tower of Babel". We appreciate all the participation over the past few days. This will make our new mailing list work better!
