Hello Fran! On the ship manifest 10. Oct 1909 her last residence is Krucanice/Končatrice, Slavonia, and she is Bohemian. https://www.libertyellisfoundation.org/passenger-details/czoxMjoiMTAxNzA0MDg wMjU3Ijs=/czo4OiJtYW5pZmVzdCI7 This is also given as her birth place, Kanconice My grandmother also came from Slavonia, but I can not locate this place... This one perhaps? Končanica https://www.google.at/maps/place/Kon%C4%8Danica,+Kroatien/@45.6223857,17.304 1389,9z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x4767a3067b05b645:0x6328cfa6f45512d!8m2!3d45.637844 7!4d17.1645964 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kon%C4%8Danica a czech village, would fit. But unfortunately there are no records online on family search. I would try to contact the parish there or the matični ured for this place. Otherwise you won't be able to find out, from where her family came to Croatia. To your grandfather, very interesting I have also ancestral family in this place: Suchdol nad Lužnicí <https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suchdol_nad_Lu%C5%BEnic%C3%AD> Your grandfather comes from the same place. Here is his birth entry: https://digi.ceskearchivy.cz/DA?doctree=1nrsm&menu=3&id=7686&page=129 in line number 9. His given name is Vavrinec, what is correct, as I have seen that he was named Lawrence in the USA (Vavrinec = Laurenz = Lawrence) Veceslav/Václav would have been Wenceslaus Just for the case you do not already have his birth entry. Hi Camilla, All, Are you on Ancestry DNA? Constantin and I match on My Heritage and on FamilyTreeDNA. My Heritage does show that we share a common connection with Lorraine Bushek (hope I have that name correct). I'm not sure how we connect yet though. On 23andMe you can also see common matches, as long as you are a match. I don't know of a way to share if you are not matches. FamilyTreeDNA will also show common matches, but the number of testers is not high. One benefit of Ancestry though is that you can share the DNA results as Read Only with another user. (Similar to the way you can share trees.) In that way you can search for common matches even if you do not match each other. i.e. search for surnames and locations of the matches. If you do get lucky enough to find someone with a good tree it can be helpful. I have done this with several people on my Father's side, and on my Mom's mother's side. I was able to scan the results and come up with several dozen leads. If anyone would like to share please let me know. I am rayreu at Ancestry or [email protected] You can send a request through the Settings of the DNA test. I will reciprocate the share and maybe we can find some common relatives to triangulate. Karly Szöllner has sent me attachments of his ancestors information from Budaors-Schwabische Türkei. They are dating back to the early 1700’s. If anyone wants to cross check names , please let me know. Some are listed in Hungarian or German, but birth dates etc ..are listed, also some original towns in Germany. Anne Dreer
Hello, I am searching for a missing Franz Hubel born 1852 in Jabuka, Pancevo District, Banat. He is reported to have been an Oberst in the Austrian Army and eventually settled in Graz, Austria. Our families were still in touch while my grandmother was in Yugoslavia.... but that ended with the war. The reason for my question...... I have a strong DNA match with a woman whose family seems to have always been in north-west France. My question is: What events were taking place in France in 1886? Could someone from the Austria Hungary military be in that location? For what purpose? I know this may be the wrong forum for this question..... I was hoping that, at least, someone could steer me the right way. Thank you in advance. Rita
Anne, my brother-in-law's parents were born in Budaors. Surname Pfundt. His dad is still alive, so I can pass along any questions to him.
