City: Budapest Surnames: Risavi (Rishavy), Sziver, Kolder (Kolter) Novi Sad/Batschka Surnames: Korell, Risavi (Rishavy) My great-grandparents were German immigrants who emigrated to Hungary in the late 1800s. As far as I heard, the priest‘s daughter took the church books with her when she escaped and later refused to return them to Serbia. I am also wondering, why there seem to be no duplicates somewhere. But all efforts to find something have been in vain so far. So if anybody ever hears something about existing Protestant records from Újvidék / Novi Aad / Neusatz, I would more than happy to know. I have likewise been informed that the Protestant church records in Novi Sad are not available. Does anyone have knowledge as to why? Are the records just no longer in existence, or are they being kept secured for some reason? My interest in this is my heritage. My grandparents came from Bulkes and Werbass, and I'm told that the Lutheran and Reformed church records were all sent to Novi Sad. Can anyone enlighten me? Hi everyone, Brick walls: Gross St. Peter: POTH, Michael, b. 1881. The existing FB ends in 1852 so I can't connect him back further. Father's name was Johann POTH (b. abt 1847), mother was Anna KLEITSCH from Kleinjetscha born about 1850 (no record of her in the Kleinjetscha FB). Michael Poth might have had military service, but no idea how to research that. Also from Gross St. Peter: WIRS, Adam, b. abt 1861. Possibly lived in or died in Lovrin. Other surnames of interest in the Banat include: ENDRES, FRANK, RECTOVALD, REICH, KERSCH, SCHUCH, REMMEL, LEHR, WETZLER, MATHES, KREITER, ZILLICH, LUDWIG, KIEFER, BALTES, SEEBERGER, KELLER, BAUM, KLOECKNER, JUNGH Cheers, Melissa Brooks

I have a Catharina DAVID married to Johannes HETZEL (oo 1802) and Johannes BACHER (oo ?) in my distant heritage. The resource for this is from my Neuwerbass Lutheran church book, in the Batschka region of what was then Austria-Hungary. I've rarely seen David as a first name, or a surname. Perhaps into what is today the Serbian Banat? That's the only place I've seen the David family other than recent discussion on this list. The family I'm talking about is Romanian today though. Very remote chance but thought I would ask. -- Darlene http://www.dvhh.org/membership/associates.htm#D On 19-Jan-2019 8:18 PM, Andy David wrote: > Region: > Beltiug > > > Family Surnames: > David > > _______________________________________________ > Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref > Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.c om > Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 > Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog > RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb community > _______________________________________________ Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.c om Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb community

Hello everyone, It's that time of year again! ROLL CALL TIME!!! Time for everyone to share the towns and surnames they are researching, including any brick walls with families. Some guidelines to make this easier and clearer for all of us: 1. Put ROLL CALL at the beginning of the subject line 1. Include town and surname in your subject, if applicable. Capitalize the town name. 2. Simple lists, i.e.: a) Town name with the surnames listed or b) Surname with a list of town names c) A combination of towns and surnames 3. Start your own ROLL CALL post. Don't reply to someone else's to start your own. 4. Keep responding to the list as well as the poster, so that we can all share in the discovery of new information. 5. Thank the posters who take the time to research and post answers to your queries. 6. Remember this is plain text, not HTML, so bolding, underlining, italics, letters with accents, anything fancy is not supported. I'll send out a post with a couple of examples using my towns and families. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. We have traced the Seil line back to Altenglan in the Rheinland-Pfaltz and are hoping to visit there this summer. I am also about to retire from teaching Spanish and will be spending more time doing Genealogy research. I read everything that comes across this mailing list and have contributed some also. It is one of my daily activities to follow all the great research and the truly helping hands of the Donauschwaben community. Sent from Yahoo Mail on Android

Hello and a Happy New Year from Austria! Still my biggest brick wall: Im am especially searching for any information about my great great grandmother KLARA REHAK, born SOMOGYI (spelling also Šomodji). Her son, my great grandfather JOSIP REHAK was born in 1905 in Ovčara, Sotin, Croatia. She was a Protestant and married with a roman-catholic Croat with Hungarian roots. She must have died between 1905 and 1911, but where? I was not able to locate her marriage, nor her birth or death. I found the birth of her brother Sándor and the death of her father Mihály in Vukovar, Croatia. Her parents were Mihály Somogyi and Klárá Barta from Neusatz / Novi Sad, now Serbia. Her grandparents must have been Mihály Somogyi and Julianne Gözi (I guess Gyözi). Biggest problem: The church books of evangelical reformed Protestants in Novi Sad are nowhere available. --------------- I am also desperately searching for ANY informations about 1.) MARGITA (maybe Margareta) REHAK emigrated to the USA. I don't know, if unmarried or with an other married name. Born between 1900 an 1911, somewhere in the area around Sotin / Vukovar oder maybe over the Danube in Southern Batschka, parents: Karlo (Dragutin) Rehak and Klara Somogyi 2.)
