We all had such good times didn’t we! As I update the website I am reminded of the most active years of development were before 2010 (gosh that sounds like a long time ago). We were all so busy. I remember you’d work until your back gave out. Remember to core team, before we became a nonprofit – that was a great team. I miss Diana (Lambing), where is she anyway! I can actually picture her frolicking about the meadows in England. But there was a time she’d be tromping through the villages in Banat. She and I and several others met there years ago. I remember when you started the cooking section; you had submitted recipes flying everywhere to be edited before publishing. Look what a collection we have now! I’m not sure Rose (Vetter) and Anne (Dreer) knew what they were getting into when they took over! They were busy too! (we should make a DVHH cookbook). Gosh there are so many to name who were soooo involved. I really miss Alex Leeb – where would we have been without our Alex? If he could read this message, I’d be telling him THANK YOU ALEX! WE LOVE YOU! He and I would be up late so many nights and weeks that turned into years working on web content. He is such a kind man and loved everyone. Alex could hook up cousins like I never have seen. He knew soooo much about the Swabian lifestyle and wanted to share it. He had so much to give and he did. He gave all he had. I miss him so much. We are thankful to still have Nick (Tullius) with us. He’s my measuring stick of dos and don’ts. It seemed it came out of nowhere and there he was right in the middle of everything DVHH web development. We could not of had a better editorial team than you, Nick, Rose and Henry Fischer. And then there was Jane Moore; she probably never knew just how much I leaned on her to get me through so many issues. She was a first class worker who really developed all things regarding the membership. And Beth, who was there from A-Z from start to now, who was very instrumental in setting up the nonprofit board and being the secretary – she ruled!!! She has been an excellent role model of what a volunteer lookup guide is. I can’t imagine how many folks she has helped in their research! She has also been a very good friend to me through the years. One day, if I ever have a chance, I should write about each person who has been involved with DVHH, because there are too many to name here and now. I mainly spoke of us old timers who saw it all – the DVHH in its hay day! We were not just a group of volunteers, we were/are family! I hope the DVHH and the new email platform can continue to keep the same ambiance that made us “that special group of people”. Times change and sometimes beyond our control. The only advice I can offer towards the future of DVHH is “for its volunteers”: to care about one another, help each other to be better at what they do, be encouraging, above all – be loyal! Everyone at DVHH is there because they are volunteering – no one is making them do anything. If a volunteer cannot be loyal to the DVHH, they have NO business being onboard. With my last message posted to Rootsweb I’d like to share Rose Mary Keller Hughes interview on “Being a Nonprofit Volunteer . . .” by Rachel Pharr Lanning, my precious daughter. http://www.dvhh.org/community/a-dvhh-volunteer.html Love & Hugs – Happy Hunting – Never give up the search! 2. Daniela Hieslmayr
    3. Dear list members! I need to share a great work and source, that has gone online now. My researcher fellow Michael Geringer from Germany invested a lot of time and energy to digitalise the two most important books about Weißkirchen im Banat. Michael Geringer father was from Weißkirchen, he also has this website online: www.belacrkva.de The books are free to download (it are big data documents, the download could take some time), they are searchable with text search (!!!) and the photographs can be copied out of the pdf-Documents. Michael Geringer¹s goal is to make this sources free and searchable for all people with Bela Crkva ancestry and to connect these people and keep the memory alive. As my grandfather Johann Ring was from Bela Crkva, it is also a heart project for me. It are two books, several hundreds of pages filled with informations, names, dates and photographs, that have been written and collected in an incredible year lasting work by the Weißkirchner survivor Josef Andreas Kauer. Andreas Kauer is an honorable mid-80 year old Weißkirchner who lives in Linz, Austria. I met him twice and have been in phone contact with him a few times. Every time I have been deeply impressed by the knowledge and memory of this great man. Here are the Download-Links: Heimatbuch Weißkirchen im Banat: https://drive.google.com/open?id=11IdZpR_wQniX1nu2Pgom9XJ97kiObyL5 Bildband zum Heimatbuch Weißkirchen im Banat: https://drive.google.com/file/d/10xXemHC8wZBbQ1sg_OnEp45djLbEMbsr/view?usp=s haring With special thanks to the Author Josef Andreas Kauer and to Michael Geringer for making this source useable in this way. Liebe Grüße, Daniela

If either Babe or Jim are still on the list, is there more information that you have OR is there anything that I might add to your research.

    3. Good to hear from you again, my dear DVHH friend! -----Original Message----- From: Rose Vetter <rosevetter@gmail.com> Sent: 29 January, 2020 8:18 PM To: Donauschwaben Villages Helping Hands (DVHH) <donauschwaben-villages@rootsweb.com> Subject: [DVHH] Re: ANNOUNCEMENT: Launch of new DVHH Mailing List I wholeheartedly agree, Rose Mary! Over ten years ago you encouraged me to post an old letter on this DVHH site: http://www.dvhh.org/dta/brazil/sao_paulo/letters-temerin.htm A few weeks later I received an e-mail from an unknown lady in Bavaria. She had happened to google her family name and found herself reading the letter her grandfather had written in 1923 to his brother in America! She turned out to be a cousin I had not known till then, but our parents had known each other back home. Maria is passionate about her ancestry, and the two of us have become the closest of cousins and friends since then, having visited each other several times and are in constant contact by phone and email. 3. Dear Rose and Rose Mary, First, wow, I can't believe that publication was 12 years ago! Sometimes I forget about the Destination pages (I need to update them). That is an amazing story, how your cousin connected with you and the warm relationship cultivated since. That goes to the heart of what DVHH is all about. And it all started with Rose Mary! I love these stories!
