I believe that there were two Williams in that area at the turn of the century. One William, served in the Continental army in South Carolina, relocated to Georgia (DeKalb County and then Talbot Co.) as a result of his success in the Georgia Land Lotteries and is believed to have died in Talbot County. The other William, was the son of Thomas Donaldson and executor to his father's will in Abbeville, SC in 1811. Thomas also served in the Continental Army. It is my belief that the elder William and Thomas were brothers and moved to SC from North Carolina. Many of Thomas' children relocated to Georgia (DeKalb, Gwinnett and Fulton Counties. My line is traced back through Silas Harper Donaldson's mother, Sara Reeve, who married a SC Donaldson believed to be William - just not sure which one. I have co-lateral line info also of other Thomas Donaldson decendants. Would like to share info.
