Hello everyone, I am trying to find some information on my 4xgreat grandfather Alexander DONALDSON. He was born in Scotland about 1792 and married Elizabeth Smith who was born about 1797 possibly in England. Alexander may have been a Chelsea Pensioner as he came to Australia as a member of the Royal New South Wales Veteran'sCompany in 1828. He arrived in New South Wales and after a few months was transferred to Van Dieman's Land until the Company disbanded in late 1829. He was granted land at Geilston Bay near Hobart. Alexander died in Hobart in 1868 and Elizabeth died at Brown's River Road just outside Hobart in 1879. Their children were:- Robert b. 1829 Kilkenny, Ireland d. 1895 Castlemaine, Victoria unmarried another child born before arrival in Australia Alexander b. 1828 Hobart married 1852 Louisa Guest Elizabeth b. 1831 Hobart John b. 1832 Hobart d. 1811 Melbourne, Vic married 1850 Catherine Crawn/Craun (this is my line) William b. 1835 Hobart married 1863 Adelaide Chatterton.
