    1. [DONALDSON-L] DONALDSON - Macreas Flat, New Zealand
    2. John Donaldson
    3. In 1861, probably in November or December, two, and possibly three Donaldson brothers arrived at Otago, South Island, New Zealand. The eldest, Robert, born: 1833 at Forgandenny, Perths, Sct, has been well researched by Clifford DONALDSON, Dunedin. His researches, however have provided very little information concerning the other two brothers, John, born: 1836, Forgandenny, Perths, Sct, and George, born 1840, also in Forgandenny. Robert's information indicates that he went first to Waikouaiti and then to Macreas Flat following his marriage to Mary NELSON in June of 1863 where he was a carter and at various times hotel keeper, farmer and other occupations. My particular interest in in the other two brothers. It appears that George stood as best man for Robert at his wedding, and may have been in business with Robert at one time or another. I have seen some indication that he had married, but I have no indication as to whom he was married. He may have had as many as five children. Any information on George would be most welcome. I have no proof that John DONALDSON actually came to New Zealand with his two brothers when they left Australia (probably Victoria or NSW) in 1861. Consequently I am also exploring the possibility that he may have stayed in Australia. Thank you in advance for any assistance. John Donaldson, Lunenburg, NS, CANADA
