I have some DONALDSON information to share which may or may not help. My ancestor, John DONALDSON, was born in 1745 in England according to his Rev. War records. He was living in Cheraw Dist in 1773, listed as a storekeeper, and bought the first of 1750 acres of land in Richmond Co., NC with the deed proved by the oath of and in the presence of Ely Kershaw. He had three sons, all mentioned in his Will which was proved in 1781. They were Peter, William, and John. John Donaldson married and settled in Marlboro Co., SC. I have never been able to find Peter and William again. Their mother, Sarah, married, for the second time, Daniel Hicks, and they were in Chesterfield Co., SC in 1788. I also saw a Samuel Donaldson mentioned in an early Anson Co., NC record book as a witness to a land transaction dated Sept. 1750. Joanne Harley harleyclan@coastalnet.com
