Also, William DONALDSON, John's brother, b. 1738, married Mary SWEENEY and moved to TN. When I briefly looked into my family history several years ago, I wanted very badly to tie in my Donelsons to the family of John DONELSON. I have yet to be able to accomplish that. The first ancestor of my Donelson line I am aware of was: Robert Donaldson b. ABT 1730, Lived: 1755, Orange Co., N.C., m. Hannah _____, d. 1790, Caswell Co., North Carolina. Robert died 1770, Orange Co., North Carolina. I am wondering if there is a "tie-in" back to John Donelson's family in Virginia ??? To establish that, I would need to find Robert's father. That is one of my goals, but I have a feeling it might take a long while. Would you happen to have any information of DONELSONS living in the Sumner/Williamson/Robertson County TN?
